^^^not true, the US conducts a very through assessment if selling of weapons will alter the balance in the region before every major arms sale. This selling of Bhramos clearly alters things for Singapore-an "ally" of India's- I hope GoI have got their heads on straight.

What are Malaysia's security concerns?

PLAN in south China sea. Recently, Malaysia announced a big discovery of oil reserves off the Borneo coast in South china sea. This is very close to the sea territory claimed by China.
Looks like the Chinese aircraft carrier is the big target for Su-30+Bhramos.
Also, Malaysia has some maritime territorial disputed with Indonesia.

Origins

It has been speculated that Babur is based on the BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missile, after six Tomahawks crash-landed on Pakistani territory in 1998 during US airstrikes on targets in Afghanistan,[5] and its design seems to show this influence. The propulsion system appears to approximate that of BGM-109 Tomahawk according to videos of its launch.[6] However, there is no confirmation of this and the Pakistani missile development organisation NESCOM has rejected this theory. Some members of NESCOM have stated, off the record, that Pakistan has been working on cruise missiles since 1995[citation needed]

yakhont was tested in SCS but the result were not that good, it failed most of the time on accounts of poor guidance. here brahmos stands apart from its ancestor. all the systems in it are tested for adversaries and are handy.
brahmos will be of good use in SCS.
