Malaysian carmaker Proton to set up first South Asian factory in Pakistan

. . .
That's because the Pakistani car manufacturers make cheap tin daba cars aiming to take on the Mehran and manage to achieve the unachievable of making a car uglier than the Mehran.

Make a stylish sedan, with modern sporty look, sleek LED lights, low-ish stance, aggressive front grill, and touch display with a price cheaper than or comparable to the Honda Civic, it will sell like hot cakes.

Pakistan had only one manufacturer whose company was first Pakistani automobile ompany, it started around 2005 an obviously it needed time to strengthen it's roots before putting capital on a bigger car.

. .
Proton cars are known for their very cheap prices in the UAE.
One cannot count on the built quality, availability of spares and resale value of these cars at the moment.
Prices could be the only edge they can have if they want to enter and keep their place in Pakistani auto market.
I'm seriously frustrated about the resale mentality prevalent in Pakistan. Everybody wants to have their cake and eat it too.
That; and every other automaker is coming in to sell Pakistani's SUV's. Newsflash you f******; Pakistan runs on cheap hatchbacks. Don't need an MBA to tell you that.

.
Due to very low purchasing power and very high excise duty in pakistan, cars are considered as an asset with almost unlimited usefulness and impervious to depreciation. People will always have resale value on top of their list of priorities.

By definition; an asset will always depreciate. People need to be money smart. The consumer should vote with his money; and companies should oblige. Guess what happens when people keep buying Mehran's and Bolan's in droves? Supply and demand. Stop buying shitty cars and the industry will correct itself.

In Pakistan, cars are almost at par with Land.
Land is the only asset which has unlimited usefulness and hence no depreciation.

that is surprising to hear. I would think cars degrade in Pakistani conditions pretty fast unless mechanics are clever at fixing it

They are offering ESC as standard! That alone is a big safety feature. I don't see any of the other 3 offering anything close to this.
