Malaysian carmaker Proton to set up first South Asian factory in Pakistan

I never heard good things about Proton from my Malaysian friend. his standards were Porsches, Beamers, Audis etc

But you think Suzuki sells same garbage to other countries too? No? Why?
Basically any car manufacturer will do that.

Suzuki is 2nd rate or 3rd rate company in any part of the world

.
In 2009, Maruti’s Gurgaon plant produced 620,000 cars and Hyundai’s factory at Irungattukottai made 550,000. In China, Changan Auto’s Chongqing Jiangbei plant produced 525,000

Morocco hardly sounds like a car making giant. But -

The production increase at the SOMACA plant in Casablanca will help Renault manufacture 500,000 cars annually in Morocco, including 340,000 from its larger Tangier plant.

Another French carmaker, Peugeot, said last month that it would start production next year at its site near the coastal city of Kenitra with a target of 200,000 vehicles annually by 2020

Its not just bring employment which we also need but it trains a lot of technical labour and our engineers can learn a lot from that , while it can bring a product which is in.the reach of every pakistani at least , and above all it brings a brotherly nation more closer

We are not talking some product , which isnt in reach of every pakistani?
Top notch , no we are looking for employment, training of our labour and then a product of which most pakistani can use in thier daily life , but not in some racing track???
So if we calculate every aspect of its beneficial for us in all ways

I am sure the Suzuki and Proton cars are "functional" in the narrow sense of the word. Some of us like to push the boundaries of what a car does

I don't think you understand. We don't have car industry in Pakistan. We just have car franchise. Like McDonalds has opened a franchise in every town in Pakistan global car makers have opened franchises at every corner. And just like McD's franchises these car franchises are just a hut and drive affairs employing few people. They controbute zero to exports. But just live off like parasites on foreign remittances. It's a elaborate mafia cartel.

Any type of investment is welcome. And about cars, our people don't hesitate to use different things. They should open chain in Barhia town & defense societies.

You are preaching to the choir. I understand Pakistan's predicament. Your current account deficit does not allow Pakistan to allow unlimited competition which is the fastest and easiest remedy. You are stuck with three legacy players who have no incentive to upgrade products.

To give you a idea of how bad it is. We are celebrating the arrival of not a original manufactuer. But badge of a re-badged Chinese product.
