Malaysian carmaker Proton to set up first South Asian factory in Pakistan

.
Will Pakistanis support it? Cuz last time one tried to open but was not supported by Pakistanis themselves and was made fun of. Who will take the chance again, just to get bankrupt.

That's because the Pakistani car manufacturers make cheap tin daba cars aiming to take on the Mehran and manage to achieve the unachievable of making a car uglier than the Mehran.

Make a stylish sedan, with modern sporty look, sleek LED lights, low-ish stance, aggressive front grill, and touch display with a price cheaper than or comparable to the Honda Civic, it will sell like hot cakes.

Hopefully they can bring in Peroduo. Their Myvi is a perfect fit for Pakistani market with a low price tag. Proton has their Iriz in the same class, if I'm not mistaken.

Sorry, I misspelled. Saga is the sedan, Pakistanis do well with hatchbacks and mini cars.

Proton are inexpensive in the west. Hopefully they'll continue that in Pakistan and get access to the market by being competitively priced.

No need to tell anybody to get lost. On the contrary, they can add value to our market.

I see Pakistan is becoming next Automotive hub.
If Pakistan establish Automotive Electronics and Mechanical R&D facilities than nobody can stop Pakistan.
I mean, if one manufacturer is coming to Pakistan, than it should find professionals, and supporting industry locally, and cheaper. Secondly, connecting manufacturing zones to railways will be another best step.

Overall, take finance division, HEC(universities, specially NED, Giki, IIEE, and NUST) Railways and ports(Karachi and Gawader) on board.
Still see the same old unsafe garbage being sold to public called Suzuki. Then they have established a monopoly as well. Selling substandard goods. There is no defined auto policy either but the robbery in broad daylght needs to be stopped.

Great news.
Terrible news. At this rate we will have as many car makers as cars made in Pakistan. With each just making one car. Modern car industry relies on economies of scale. That is mass production. Honda Swindon Plant in UK is beinmg closed. That one plant makes twice more cars then all of Pakistan put together.

With car makers opening more franchises in Pakistan then McDonalds there is no chance of efficiency that comes from scale production. The Pakistan consumer will end up paying for 1990s era junk sold by these franchise houses.

In 2009, Maruti’s Gurgaon plant produced 620,000 cars and Hyundai’s factory at Irungattukottai made 550,000. In China, Changan Auto’s Chongqing Jiangbei plant produced 525,000

Morocco hardly sounds like a car making giant. But -

The production increase at the SOMACA plant in Casablanca will help Renault manufacture 500,000 cars annually in Morocco, including 340,000 from its larger Tangier plant.

Another French carmaker, Peugeot, said last month that it would start production next year at its site near the coastal city of Kenitra with a target of 200,000 vehicles annually by 2020

Am waiting for a Pakistani carmaker to enter Pakistani market

Same but unless our people stop thinking imported products from anywhere is good and start being proud of what we produce it wont change
We aren't capable of doing that, which is incredibly stupid cause we had done it in the 60s.

You knows whats sad we had Korean engineers looks at our plants in the 1960s and early 1970s for car production but the "Islamic Socialist" dude that PPP bots fap to had to kill the project

Will Pakistanis support it? Cuz last time one tried to open but was not supported by Pakistanis themselves and was made fun of. Who will take the chance again, just to get bankrupt.
Again I pointed that out to the OP before

Depends if we can R/D for the cars not bad if its just producing junk then no China still buys a lot of foreign cars still dont let PRC members fool you their cars still suck and they still do JVs with other auto firms from Japan or buy a stake in European firm they still not there yet

But you think Suzuki sells same garbage to other countries too? No? Why?
Basically any car manufacturer will do that.

Auto policy. A government defined policy that has certain standards. Just implement the European standard for vehicles so consumers get a safe car and not junk from the 80's
