What's new

Malaysia eyes Air Launched BrahMos?

What do u mean by strategic failure, and by naval sam i mean MRSAM or QRSAM.Like hq-16 or shtil-1.

about bold part: i do not want to say anything further  and as naval sam we have currently FM90 sam and soon will have FL-3000N in new vessels as point defence system. That is enough for now

@AUSTERLITZ
few days back I stumbled upon an article which claims DRDO making a missile based on brahmos, what I felt the sole intention of drdo was to increase the range of brahmos upto1000km under a new name.do u have Amy info about it??

Nope its all hush hush now,it will basically be a fully indian brahmos thus enabling us to extract brahmos's true range potential, something that can't be done with current brahmos as russia is signatory to MCTR treaty that doesn't allow 300 km plus range.
Nirbhay is seperate subsonic land attack missile with 1000 km range resembling the role of usa tomahawk.

Says 350 km.Anyway we will have nirbhay so not a problem for us.

Yaar develop it first... last test was a failure...

Land based bastion system, its cheaper.Brahmos is much costly due to seeker.

Yes.. good luck developing it..

And BARAk-8 LRSAM and SPYDER combo will deal with enemy subsonic threats.

Yes im sure terrain hugging, stealthy CMs will be like ducks.... while the other side doesnt have anything to counter ur missiles right?

As for supersonic threats..we all know who's got what.

Yes yakhont vs CM-400AKG.

Sir jee nirbhays range was decreased to 700kms..

Yes yakhont vs CM-400AKG.

1.Partially successful.More succesful than babur's first test, where it flew for 17 km.Even in second flight babur flew 22km.
2.What developing?Brahmos is already operational. Its seeker is much more advanced.
3.Never said that...sure ull get air defenses too.But we will use both supersonic and subsonic missiles for LACM duty.U only subsonic.
4.CM-400AKG is not land attack missile as such its small range 180km -240 km is insufficient for such mission.
In anti shipping role its no match for brahmos, smaller range,no manuevering ability, can;t hit fast targets and only achieves its great speed at terminal stage rather than sustained supersonic cruise.

Only initial testing versions around 750.Operational version as stated by armed forces requirements will be 1000 km.

Bhai jan... its still years away and comin with decreased range... anyways ... im a rookie in this matter but HQ series SAMs?

S-300 based naval sams have one bad weakness, have problem dealing with sea skimmers due to engagement angle.
Though i doubt any navy can deal with salvo mach6-7 ascms. But brahmos 2 is years away ur right.
Right now klub is enough to cause headache, let alone brahmos.Even for AEGIS.

Yes more successful in going offcourse and crashing.. while Babur CM is in service... while its naval version is under development with more range...

2.What developing?Brahmos is already operational. Its seeker is much more advanced.

Im talking abt air launched version with shorter range etc..

Sir except yakhont or brahmos.. none other are in service and under development..

4.CM-400AKG is not land attack missile as such its small range 180km -240 km is insufficient for such mission.

Brahmos itself has a range of 280-290 kms... whereas CM-400AKG has a range of 250km.

In anti shipping role its no match for brahmos, smaller range,no manuevering ability, can;t hit fast targets and only achieves its great speed at terminal stage rather than sustained supersonic cruise.

Here is what Air Commodore Mahmood Khalid, PAF JF-17 Deputy Project Director stated:

"The CM-400AKG is a very high-speed missile that is very tough to intercept. It hits the target at Mach 4 or above and its kinetic impact alone is enough to destroy any high-value target, like an aircraft carrier."

More info:

The CM-400AKG is a 400 kg solid-rocket-powered weapon that can be fitted with either a penetrator or blast/fragmentation warhead. It is a fire-and-forget precision-guided weapon that can be fitted with several seeker options, which are understood to include an active radar seeker and an imaging infrared seeker with target-recognition (TR) capabilities. PAF sources say the missile can be pre-programmed with digital imagery for highly precise attacks against fixed sites in TR mode, but it can also be retargeted in flight by using the radar seeker option.

Again .. im not much familar with the missile...also most of the specs of CM-400 are not known anyways...

Also this thread might interest you... as youve already post a few comments in it... :

Sir it was supposed to be a 1000km LRCM... but now 700km is the range being worked upon...

Its not just S-300 or HQ-16 (improved n long ranged HQ variant) even barak-8 will have a hard time dealing with missiles like cm-400akg...as the thread i posted mentions the issues..

.
Yes yakhont vs CM-400AKG.

One question, most of the sources claim impact velocity as hypersonic.

Does it means that missile is subsonic for most of the flight path?

PS: Didn't read the above post, moving to the mentioned thread now.

. .
A 250km range missile cannot be a threat to an aircraft carrier by any stretch of imagination.

The media needs to tone down their voices.

A 250 Km range missile hitting with 5+ mac speed is lethal... dnt you agree?
