Malaya was better off when British left. There was lots of economic activities there thus British brought Indian and Chinese immigrants to work in Malaya.

With all due, respects Malaysia is on target to become an industrialised nation in around a decade's time.

Malaysia has a GDP/capita 10 times that of India.

That should say something about whether Malays or Indians are better at running an economy.

And GDP per capita of Singapore is 5 times of Malaysia and there Indians and Chinese compete in the corporate world and malays lag behind in education and Bangladesh provides only street workers. I don't know the relevance of this on a thread about ethnicity based discrimination in Malaysia and its impact on the majority group that enjoys reservations. But as a member of the most impoverished ethnic group in UK, I'm sure you have your own theories.

The former and longest serving Prime Minister Mahathir wrote Malay Dilemma that deals with the relations between the two main races in Malaysia: the so-called indigenous Malays who formed roughly half the population and the so-called immigrant Chinese who make up a third. And that imbalance can only be redressed by giving Malays preferential treatment over the other races. Push the scales to their advantage, Mahathir argues. Gave them a better shot at business, for so long considered the preserve of the Chinese. Left alone, the Chinese may well deliver Malaysia faster to the common goal of national prosperity. But should the Malay stand aside and watch his country prosper under the Chinese? Or should he demand a share in that prosperity, even at the cost of slowing down the economy? This, Mahathir says, is the Malay dilemma.

The recent testimonies at the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah have certainly been revealing – to some of us, shocking.

To be sure, prior to the RCI, we had heard rumours and allegations of identity cards being given to illegal immigrants, under what has been called Project IC or Project M (after ex-prime minister Mahathir Mohamad), so that they could vote for the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) and keep it in power, but hearing it now from the mouths of people involved in the project confirms our fear that our country’s citizenships have indeed been given away cheaply and illegally.

One of the witnesses, former Sandakan chief district officer Hassnar Ebrahim who first gave out forms in 1981 to Filipino and Indonesian illegal immigrants to allow them to apply for ICs, gave damning indication that Mahathir must have given his approval to the project because an enterprise of such a magnitude would have required it.

Besides, Hassnar said he attended a “secret meeting” in the 1980s that involved officers from the Prime Minister’s Department, the Immigration Department and the police, and at this meeting, then home affairs minister Megat Junid Megat Ayub said Mahathir had approved the project.

It was proposed that 130,000 to 150,000 names be added to the Sabah electoral roll to boost the Muslim vote. Although there were protests from one of the officers present, the proposal was passed. Hassnar himself was given 30,000 HNR3 forms to take back to Sabah. These forms were for the immigrants to apply for blue ICs.

Another witness, former banker Mat Swadi Awi, gave startling testimony when he revealed that he was the “grand designer” of the exercise conducted from 1987 to 1990 to distribute voters throughout Sabah who would vote for United Sabah National Organisation (Usno), a BN component party, with the aim of toppling the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) government.

He did this in response to a personal request from then Usno president Datu Mustapha Datu Harun – with the consent of Megat Junid. They both told him that Mahathir knew about the plan and had given his approval.

The plan was to increase the number of Malay and Muslim voters in strategic constituencies by deploying to these places immigrants who already had either fake or genuine Malaysian documents, as well as Malaysian citizens from Peninsular Malaysia and those serving in Sabah.

Mat Swadi said he selected a total of 20,000 names. Of these, one-third comprised Malaysian citizens and the rest were immigrants.

It is treason. And it is a disaster. Malaysian-born Sabahans are now swamped by the foreigners who were given citizenships.

Hassnar observed that “these foreigners are even taking over native land that belonged to the original Bumiputera Sabahans”. He also spoke of a Bugis immigrant who came to assume the name of Sabahan Halim Ahmad who had died without his death having been reported to the authorities. The Bugis used Halim’s birth certificate to apply for a blue IC in 2009. It was approved by the NRD. Today, this man allegedly controls illegal gambling dens in Sandakan.

It would seem that unlike Singapore, which has been opening its doors to foreigners in order to attract the best talents, we have been attracting the dregs of society.

Pre 1960s most Sabahan's weren't Muslim, but that has changed thanks to Project IC. By inviting southern Muslim Phillippino and Indonesians was an act of TREACHERY if proven. The demised ex Dpy Home Minister and ex PM collaborated with an aim to increase legitimate M'sian Muslim voters (from PHI and Indon) just to oust the then governing PBS, an indigenous Sabahan Christian led party, was a most evil act. Now that it's exposed, M'sia would become a laughing stock to other global leaders who will condemn such ambitious international crime.

Both Chinese, and the "Malay" UMNO leaders are foreigners and leeches on native Malays.

Most of the UMNO leadership are not real ethnic Malays. Mahathir Mohammad's grandfather was an Indian, Ismail Abdul Rahman was part Bugis and part Chinese, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi is part Arab and part Chinese, Tun Hussein Onn has circassian ancestry, the Albar family is of Arab origin. And they all claim to be 100% Malay and its them who benefit from the policies. One of the richest Bumiputera is Syed Mokhtar al Bukhary and he is of Arab origin. Alsagoff family was of Arab origin too.

Most of those rich "Malay" bumiputera businessmen are not ethnic Malays but people of foreign blood who took advantage of the fact that anyone who is a Muslim gets classified as a Malay. They are Arab, Indian, or even Ethiopian origin "Malays". Real ethnic Malays don't benefit.

I do not think either UMNO leaders or Chinese should run the Malaysian economy, the real Malays themselves should run it.

Malaysia is not Hindustan, Arabia, China, or Africa.

Most of the natives in southeast asia will not stand up for themselves and are lethargic. They need foreigners to do it for them. Mari Alkatiri was an Arab and he led the East Timor independence movement against Indonesia, not a native Timorese. The Malays let themselves get overrun by foreigners who controlled their economy, they need to put them all on a leash and stand up.

Real Malay nationalists would put an end to all foreigners running their economy. Arabs would not let foreigners come and claim to be Arab and run their nations, Malays should not tolerate foreigners claiming to be Malays run their economy nor foreigners of any other kind. UMNO bumiputera "Malays" and Chinese are both foreigners.

During Malacca Sultanate times, Malaysia was actually run by ethnic Malays before the Arabs, Chinese, Indians, Bugis and other people flooded into Malaysia during Dutch and British rule. And before non-Malay people started posing as ethnic Malays.
