I was one of those people that, though I had (and have) an immense amount of respect and admiration for Jews, I was deeply unhappy with the situation in Palestine.

I have seen and have choked on images of the holocaust and wondered how men could do this to other men.

I read with shame the horrors of the pogroms and the industrial scale of the German attempts of purification.

I understood why the jews wanted a home.

Yet, I was also dismayed and hurt by the Palestinian plight. Where we should have been cousins living side by side, and the Arabs at the time did welcome them home. But the Nakba occurred and one set of people were displaced by another.

Wars started and were lost.

As a Muslim, I wanted and still wants Palestine and Jerusalem back in Muslim hands..

I want this to happen through peaceful negotiations, not war, terrorism or any other violence.

Thus if we really want to achieve something for the Palestinians and not to mouth tired clichés we must make peace with Israel and develop relationships with her – trade, tourism, diplomacy, etc.

We need to be mature and understand that the policies of the past have failed and hence to continue down the same path for 60 years and keep failing is madness.

This will cause Israel to be less belligerent, less hostile, less right wing and open the space for saner and more amenable voices to be heard.

After all we are cousins.

Palestinians can be relocated to Sinai peninsula, Egypt should donate that land to them. This is the most peaceful solution.

I disagree, Palestine will need to be formed in the historic lands of Palestine, however this will need to be done via peaceful talks and a helping hand by the Muslims and the west so that both parties come out with something a win-win situation such as immediate trade and aid to help Israel and Arabs set up businesses schools etc. Jerusalem could be a jointly administered city. Make peace and is especially vital for Pakistan. In reality if PK had strong relations with Israel, half the cr ap we are seeing would cease.

And to be objective, Jerusalem is far more important to Judaism than to islam. As much as mecca is for muslims.They have battled even Romans and assyrians for that city, long before Christianity or islam began.

Jerusalem is vital for us, it was our 1st Kiblah and was only changed later to mecca towards the House of Abraham. So it is not possible to give that up and we have thd Dome of the Rock there over the stone where our Prophet ascended. Thus it is important to all three people of the Book, David, Solomon, Jesus, Mohammed are all bound to that city. Thus the Israelis would no doubt be mindful of our needs and desires. Not now as much blood has been spilt but once the process starts more rational people will help.

Good to see rational Muslims coming forward, enough is enough, the Jews are not aliens they are humans and we need to make the first step to peace. Why we? because we are the bigger mass of people and have the lands and amount to be the bigger heart and take the 1st step.

Absolutely. We almost did during Musharraf but the space for this was not there, the religious nutters and imposters did not allow for this desire to manifest but the advantages to PK are such that it would be an idiot not to seize this motion and move for diplomatic relations. Looks the arabs have relations so why are we so high and mighty that we cannot.

It would have been better phrased just to say that we should be at peace with everyone.

Anyway the question to you was that since you say that Jerusalem should be in muslim hands, and being mindful that jews would want it to be in their hands, how would you surmount that disagreement? In fact, that is the very same feeling that has prevented any peace in that region. Muslims thinking it should be in "muslim hands" and jews thinking it should be in "jewish hands". As long as people in that region don't rise above these religious notions, and think beyond religious identities, there will be no peace there. Sad, but true.
