‘Major surprises’ expected in talks with militants, ISI

its true but if you think you can wipe out or change this mentality at one day you are wrong now a days too much care abut these madrasas and situation is changing with time if you remember in 2007 2008 and 2009

Dust always take time to settle and that's also true for TTP insurgents in your country. But whatever happen in Afghanistan will surely affect your country because you have many things common with them. Like a simple revolts in Tunisia created ripples in every country from Iran to Morocco.

Mehsud’s former deputy has also alleged that the TTP chief received money from India to kill a former Pakistan spy agency official acting as a mediator between the Pakistani Taliban, Afghan militants and the Pakistani government.

the main problem is damn from afghanistan but pakistani huge mistake was involve in afghan mess i admit it many times . there are many afghan border countries but pakistan screwed himself by his wish

The Headline reads
"Top Taliban ‘commanders’ at each other’s throats"

I think you still remember, in your country it is the custom of branding your opponents as RAW-CIA-MOSSAD agents. I have found many videos on Youtube where Pashtun fanboys are branding MQM as RAW agent and Muhajir Fanboys branding ANP as RAW agent. Then I heard SAFMA is RAW funded getting $400 Millions every year from RAW. One leader brand other leader as RAW agents and the list goes on.

We have infiltrated and divided the movement, and have weakened it considerably, their attacks are limited to the west of the country and increasingly being hit hard.

If you have extremist in your neighborhood, you can't protect your home from that.

I was watching a Program on Pakistan channel, a Pakistani politician was saying , " madrasa say hamarey bachchay mar rahey hain, koy batayeh kahi ricky margaya ho kahi richard margaya ho, kahi prakash, dilip, ram, margaya ho. koy bataye bhi hamarey bachcey mar rahey hain."

At one time these same terrorists were good enough to be invited to the white house and dined with Chaney. There were a lot of problems in Afghanistan and some dispicable things happened ,but there was no growth of Poppy during their reign. Whether we like it or not Afghanistan is our backyard. We need a friendly regime in our backyard so that there is no fear of a n alttack from the rear. Dont read the rhetoric of the western press which is no longer free but harps the same tune irrespective of which paper you look at. Read an impartial account of what Afghaanistan was like during the reign of taliban. I would be the last person to say that it was perfect, but as things went it wasn't too bad either.

Yes, the Americans decided to get rid of the nest of hornets of radical Islamic terrorism which threatens international security and was responsible the butchering of many innocent lives, like in 9/11. Of course this murderers are going to fight back, but instead of helping them and sympathise with them Pakistan must had at last to eliminate them from its territory.
The Americans chose to go to war instead of engaging in negotiations with the Taliban and exploring offers by the Taliban to have OBL and Co. tried in a third country or by an international panel of judges.

The Taliban were not terrorists, Al Qaeda was - the Taliban were as brutal in their treatment of Afghans as the Northern Alliance warlords that they replaced, who were in turn put back into power by the US.

Enough of the distortions and half-truths - the US made a major error in choosing to go to war rather than negotiate the trial of OBL and co and action against AQ in Afghanistan and Pakistan - the result of the US decisions to go to war have resulted in hundreds of thousands dead and hundreds of billions in economic losses across three nations.

There is no justification for the war-mongering approach of US decision makers post 9/11 - the Americans acted like a bunch of medieval barbarians and gangsters.

Now stick to the topic please - you have not refuted my argument about US lies about its aid to Pakistan, and so far no one has been able to provide a good enough reason for why the US did not engage the Taliban further and explore the offers for trial in a third country or neutral panel of judges.

Without answering those questions, we cannot move forward in this discussion.

the ball is in pakistan court
talibans are on a wait and see policy
its only a matter of time after which when nato routes are opened and drone starts roaring again the situation will be all the same gain al qaeda will fire salvo against pakistan taliban will criticize pakistani support to nato and will start attacks
it is winter now snow is falling on most of the wazirstan terrain, everybody is relaxing

We need to check the TTP and use any strategy to do so.
Whether we use dialogues to create differences between various groups or we only use the military approach, should be totally up to us.

These wars are fought on many fronts and we should not hold ourselves ransom to any particular approach.

The Afghan Taliban have had political standing in Afghanistan, enough to form a government in most of Afghanistan.
They were not chaotic forces and good/bad label is relative to different countries.
If we observe the kind of forces fighting for power in Afghanistan pre Taliban, there were no good/benevolent war lords even then.
Barring few misguided religious notions, Taliban had some strong points and that is why they were able to exert control...guns were aplenty in their rival camps too.
The fact that they had a political agenda and even succeeded in implementing it makes them different to TTP.

The TTP on the other hand is mostly a mixture of purely criminal and terrorist cells which are chaotic forces without any political standing or agenda. They are mostly interested in criminal activities and wherever they get a foothold, all local gangs are made to operate under their banner.

People like Hakimullah Mehsud have no standing in the original Mujahideen groups since he would not even have been in his suicide diapers when the Afghan Jihad was being fought.

There are mega differences between the various chapters of TTP and these need to be exploited via any approach possible.

TTP has split. There are now two fractions in TTP. One fraction joined Afghan Taliban and are not against Pakistan anymore. The other fraction (foreign sponsored) is still Pakistan's enemy and wants to destroy Pakistan but TTP has weaken considerably and it has weaken more now that its broken in half and the other half joined Afghan Taliban.

It's obvious they're foreign funded.. drone attacks have stopped, relationship with US has got significantly worse, no transit for NATO. Yet, still. This ploy by CIA/RAW has been and will be unsuccessful though. Their paid mercenaries are on their last feet.

being part of TTP is a lucrative profession for these terrorists , they get paid for planting bombs and comitting murders in Pakistan.
they have active support from Pakistan's enemies and we know who the puppet masters of these goons are.

Security agencies want TTP to abandon Orakzai, Khyber

ISLAMABAD: Security agencies want the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to abandon their strongholds of Orakzai and Khyber for a possible truce but are not keen to wrench back the control of other lawless tribal regions from the militia.
Officials and TTP affiliates told The Express Tribune on Friday that the militia was being pushed to vacate Orakzai Agency because of its close proximity to the garrison city of Kohat.

“We don’t want to run unnecessary risk. If we tolerate the Taliban presence, it will be a strategic mistake. We will be on their target, if things go wrong again in the future,” said an official privy to the ongoing peace talks between the militants and security agencies.

Same is true for Khyber Agency, which borders Peshawar, the capital city of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa that has borne the brunt of the war on terror in the past three years, the official said. “We cannot continue to allow them to maintain a presence near our cities from where they can plan and mount attacks,” the official added.

Both sides, however, said that the military was not keen on regaining complete control of other tribal regions, which are controlled by the TTP or its splinters including South Waziristan, Bajaur and Mohmand – the regions that share borders with Afghanistan.
Serving and retired military officials said the Taliban could not be trusted because of their ‘dubious’ past when they used peace accords for expanding their reach.

Though the Pakistani military denies it publicly, it was reported last week that its peace negotiations with the Taliban had entered a make-or-break phase and an agreement was possible in weeks to come.

But at least two militant commanders loyal to Hakimullah Mehsud said that it looked hard for both sides to find common grounds for TTP’s withdrawal from Orakzai and Khyber.

“Hakimullah was a TTP commander in these areas before taking over the group’s overall command … he won’t like to see Orakzai and Khyber slipping out of his hands so easily,” said one of the commanders.

It was, however, not clear how strong Hakimullah’s control over the group was as there were reports of several top commanders revolting against him in recent months.

Several TTP associates said Hakimullah was no more a functioning head of the group he once controlled with absolute authority and his role had been taken over by Wali-ur-Rehman Mehsud, his longtime deputy but a bitter rival now.

Commanders close to Wali said he was more than willing to have an unconditional accord with the Pakistani government as soon as possible.

It was not immediately known whether TTP commander for Orakzai, Maulvi Noor Jamal or Mullah Toofan, and for Dara Adamkhel (another region close to Kohat) also supported Rehman. Officials said the military was still facing some ‘pockets of mild resistance’ in Orakzai.
