This is true Gandhi supported Khilafat movement and Jinnah opposed Khilafat movement around 1920's. Jinnah had his own reasons and I will not go into detail. However vast number of muslims in British India did support Khilafat movement and they actually donated large sum of money for the movement.
Jinnah was NOT just a leader of muslims in current Pakistan.
He represented ALL muslims living in undivided India.
This was the basis of starting All India Muslim League in 1909; and it was on this basis Gandhi, Negru and rest of the leaders of Congress entered any negotiations with Muslim League.
Wrong.
Pakistanis (subcontinent Muslims who followed Jinnah) never supported the Khilafat Movement.
Only Indians (subcontinent Hindus who followed Gandhi ji and subcontinent Muslims who followed Abul Kalam Azad) supported the Khilafat Movement.
There can always be arguments - no doubt.
But do you know what was Gandhi's ulterior motive to support this movement?
Jinnah only represents Pakistanis not Indians.
Only half of the Muslims followed Jinnah. The other half of the Muslims did not follow Jinnah (including his family) and stayed back in India.
Jinnah was not founding member of All India Muslim League.
Jinnah joined All India Muslim League only in 1913.
All India Muslim League did not have popular support of the masses until 1930s.
Most of the subcontinent Muslims were followers of Gandhi ji, Abul Kalam Azad and Congress during the Khilafat Movement.
There can always be arguments - no doubt.
But do you know what was Gandhi's ulterior motive to support this movement?
Where did I say Jinnah was the founder of Muslim League?
every political movement takes time to become popular, so did Muslim league. It needed time to topple the well grounded Congress.
Which it did from 1930s till 1947
Turks were fighting against the British and its allies during 1st world war. Gandhi was supporting Khilafat movement in a hope that this would weaken British empire and perhaps would be forced to leave India.
No!
No!
and No!
Gandhi was a KATTAR Hindu and hated Muslims from his guts.
He saw this movement as an opportunity to create an illusion for Indian Muslims to leave India to support their Turkish brothers.....he was a shrewd man
What about Pakistan asked Gaddafi to pay for Lahore stadium. Is that fact as well ? [emoji3]
There can always be arguments - no doubt.
But do you know what was Gandhi's ulterior motive to support this movement?
If you want to argue semantics, Citizens of the British empire supported Khilafat. There was no country called India and therefore no such thing as ‘Indians’ in terms of a nationality.Fact Check:
Pakistanis did not support Khilafat Movement.
Only Indians supported the Khilafat Movement.
Government of Pakistan and Pakistanis should weigh in and provide clarification on why Lahore Stadium was renamed as Gaddafi Stadium.
LoL First you deny and when confronted with facts now you question the motive. Great going.
You are repeating like a broken record. Read who were the main leaders of the Khilafat movement and then read how many of them became Muslim League members. It has allGovernment of Pakistan and Pakistanis should weigh in and provide clarification on why Lahore Stadium was renamed as Gaddafi Stadium.
