Each to his own. If he feels loyalty to the Israeli state there is not much any outsiders can do. His decision, his life and his consequences.

If I was an Israeli Arab I would most likely not serve for the IDF but at the other hand if the number of Arabs in the IDF was proportional to their population in Israel (20%), the IDF might have looked differently.

Wrong. Read the post below by a respected Arab member. If more Muslims were in IDF it be better al round.

If I was an Israeli Arab I would most likely not serve for the IDF but at the other hand if the number of Arabs in the IDF was proportional to their population in Israel (20%), the IDF might have looked differently.

He does not categorically reject the idea of srving in IDF. Meaning we need more good Muslims in IDF. Certainly Major Alaa Waheeb is a brave Muslim.

How then can he fight alongside the same force that is accused of persecuting the Palestinians?

How about a Muslim soldier in the Indian Army fighting the insurgency in Kashmir?
