Ummm... you shouldn't use such statements so often. Unless you were strictly talking about Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs).

There are over 14,000 research centers in the United States.

Evaluating Research Centers and Institutes for Success: A Manual and Guide with Case Studies William R. Tash WT & Associates, 2006.

only a part of 2800's list is government funded. Most of them are science and technology parks which we have currently 31 of them in different provinces of Iran. There are some 3000 high-tech research and production companies in these tech parks. There are another 6000 of these entities outside science parks. Almost of all of these Iranian 9000 research entities are privately funded...

and it is not right to compare Iranian science and tech output with a USA yet... USA science and tech centers/companies have a long history with tens of times more budget. Iranian science and tech sector became serious less than 15 years ago. The overall R&D budget in Iran is not in no way comparable to US's.

In brief:

Iran has three types of entities that are doing science and tech job:

1- Public Funded Scientific institutions or research centers. These are mostly concentrated around new sciences such as Nano, biotechnology, stem cells, laser, aerospace, etc

2- Public universities and their research centers: Among them are top universities of Sharif, Elmo Sanat, Imam Hussein, Amir Kabir, Ferdowsi, Isfahan Tech, ect....

3- Private universities and their research centers: Azad university is the biggest

4- Totally private Science and Technology Parks' settled companies. These companies are the backbone of industrial and commercial science and tech. These are some 3000 private companies with huge focus on high tech research. These type of companies are initiated by governmental loans to start but will stay independent after ward. There is a new wave of new scientists absorbed by these kind of companies as some people call these parks as "Silicon Valleys of Iran"

5- Some other 6000 private companies who are working on high tech stuff and shaped totally by private funds outside tech parks. Many of these companies are inclined to move to science and tech parks so they can use the benefits arise from these science and tech parks.

6- Military industry science and tech research centers that are held by IRGC, Ground forces, air force and Defense Ministry. Most of new weaponry systems go to Defense ministry industrial complexes for mass production. The military industry is a big costumer of Science and tech products and technologies. They use private contractors from these parks or other outside-park high tech companies.

so, although Iranian R&D or high tech research budget is not yet comparable to USA or other industrialized nations but the infra is formed and it will be better year over year. World will hear a lot from Iran in coming decades.

What happened to that handicapped guy who was able to move his feet again after injection of stem cells to his spine. It was done in Shahid Beheshti University. Does anyone has any news about it?

That guy is long dead!! I'm kidding!! I don't know anything about him... I hope he got his leg back on ground though... :yes4:

Iran is now producing "Induced pluripotent stem cells or iPSCs" to be the fifth country after USA, China, Japan and Germany.

Royan Research Center in Iran is a pioneer of stem-cells researches internationally.

Royan is a leading stem cell research center, and Iran has some of the most liberal laws on stem cell research in the world. The institute founded a Department of Stem Cells in 2002 to establish embryonic stem cell lines and human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (iPSC) and to study differentiation into different kinds of cells including cardiomyocytes, beta cells, and neural cells. Researchers claimed a live birth of a cloned sheep in 2006, inviting foreign observers to verify the claim.[2]

Royan publishes the Yakhteh Journal with an estimated impact factor of 0.208.[3]

Nice thread dude I am surprised that even after so many sanctions you are ahead of us in so many fields :o::o:
Hopefully with the sanctions lifted Iran can achieve its true potential

What you see in this thread is one thousandth or less of what Iran has achieved so far and it is moving a head fast as India does. India is ahead in some science and tech categories and Iran is a head in some. To my eyes, if three things are changed in any nation it will trigger a revolution in science and tech and research in that country:

1- The public will to change
2- Smart leaders to shape this will and guide into a form of national identity
3- National Pride that prevents a nation from being satisfied with what she has achieved

I personally predict that in less than 2 decades the ranking of pioneer nations in science and tech will be changed significantly. Nations like India, SK, Iran, Brasil, Turkey, Poland, Argentina, Indonesia and some others will join top movement-generator list of nation in less than decades.

I hope it does both India & Iran need to gain back their rightful status as world leaders

We need to bond with India's IIT's and science parks. Their BSc and MSc level are as good as best Universities in the world and upto date. It is affordable for Iranians and will push the limits of our engineers. Also we need to bond with India's vast expertise in Microelectronics, Software design and verification. They have a pool of talent there that can help. We lack engineering support (companies like Arrow, Avnet, Mouser, all major support lines ...) in Iran and India has the network necessary and the distance and cost is comparable to our own. It is very costly and takes time to build this support and India has it already. Our Science parks would go faster with proper support.

Vakonesh Sanat Part company in Isfahan science and tech park produced advanced "Micro Gass Bubbles" to be the fifth company in world to produce these strategic micro glass bubbles.

These bubbles are made in form of hollow glass bubbles that are extremely resistant to pressure while being extremely light in weight.

Micro Glass Bubbles has a powder texture and form has low density, low heat transfer rate, anti-currption, radiation.
This product has many applications in 21th century industries of which are:

1- As filler in high resistance concretes.
2- It could be applied to paints and glues to improve their heat, corrosion, cracking, ultra violet resistance.
3- In oil drilling process
4- in hard cutting applications
5- As Hydrogen absorbent in Hydrogen-powered vehicles
6- To store medicament and then release the drugs slowly
7- To be added to oil and oil products to prevent toxic substances from vaporising
8- Different air and oil filters
9- In boats, submarines and other sea vehicles
10- As core for Golf, Bowling and other balls in sport industry
11- In isloator polymers industry
12- Pipe lines isolation
13- Applied to plastic to be used as fillers of cracks
14- Light resins, Artificial marble, Artificial soil for plants, to be used in vehicles chasis, Emolution explosives and tens of other applications
