In responsible countries, a CoAS can't decide to increase or decrease the Army size

That is the Government's decision. Though I hear that GoBD is planning on increasing the size of the Army as well as modernize it faster

Indeed, though I would say that Bangladesh's primary focus right now is to increase its naval potency particularly anti-piracy coastal duties.

They are strengthening their coast guard capabilities quite a bit !

The main focus right now is to protect our Exclusive Maritime Zones from Taiwanese, Thai and Indian poaching.

2 Chinese type 056 corvettes + 2-4 built in Bangladeshi Khulna yard
2 Chinese LPC + 4-8 being built at Khulna yard
2 Chinese advanced type 54a frigates or Korean KFX frigates
2 old US Hamilton cutters
2 old Chinese type 53h3 frigates (temp)
4 ex Italian corvettes for the coast guard
2 old Chinese type 35g submarines for training

Those are just a few of the stuff, but the long term focus is to start building our own, corvettes and frigates.....
