Lt. Gen. Abu Belal Muhammad Shafiul Huq to be new Army Chief

. . . .
Why would people from Taiwan fish in Bangladeshi waters? It's about a 3000 km distance from Bangladesh to Taiwan.

Fish stocks qre quite high in the shallow (5-50m) waters of the bay of bengal, this is because Bangladeshis never really liked salt water fish, but love fresh water fish. This meant that there was relatively very little deep water fishing by industrial trawlers and fish stocks are very good in the region.

This atracted trawlers from the countries mentioned, and because Bangladesh didn't have a big navy or coast guard these countries used and still do poach in our waters.

Another reason that there was very little trawler fishing by Bangladeshi trawlers there was due to the fact 3 nations had overlaping claims...Bangladesh/india and Bangladesh/burma. Now that these have been resolved at the UN we are building our own trawlers and expanding the navy/coast guard.

SO this guy is the new chief of Indian army's eastern bengal command? Hope he is paid as much as regular indian army officers & not treated like a mere mercenary.

Let's hope he increases size of Army as well as gets lot of new equipment and weapons for Bangladesh Army

U want to increase the power of Indian army? The way things r going India may very well deploy BD mercenaries in kashmir frontier in the future.

Is he a gopali?

Does it matter. He is in charge of an Indian commanded mercenary force. Is there any chance of non-bootlicking indo-awami dalals getting into high office? Any officer with dignity , not toeing the Indian line, most likely have already been kicked out from the army. Btw this guy is most likely relative of the dalal Anisul Haq. SO do 2+2.

His name obviously indicates that he is a Muslim.

U don't know what gopali means? Expatriate BAL supporters like u should know these BD political terms.

Wow you guys started with the Bengali nationalism now into regionalism :) Who do you blame now ??

Actually brother, BD is not divided by regionalism but by religion & ideology. The minority liberal secular section of the society & pagans backed by India is now dominating BD's political affairs & ruling over the muslims. Secular + pagan minorities VS muslims, that's the only divide in BD, just like the rest of the muslim world.

Who will he prefer to support after its country army?

He is chief of the Indian army's eastern bengal command. SO obviously it should be India. And most likely he won't consider back stabbing India by supporting any other country.

Ershad was very pro-Pakistan. I thought Bangladesh army was not in Indian influence

U r joking right? Ershad is a shameless pro-indian bootlicker. Ershad & hasina r the 2 most vicious Indian dalals in BD. Though ershad is a spent force for a long time now , India used him pretty well. The low life even participated in the Indo-awami arranged circus election of 2014 , that was boycotted by all other parties of the country.

There is no pro-pak parties in BD. PAK has no relevance in BD politics apart from used as a punching bag by witch hasina and pro-indian dalals every now & then. The PAK establishment justifiably ignores indo-awamin barking. I hope PAKs like u realize the reality & don't buy into indo-awami propaganda by talking abt pro-pak politics in BD. There isn't any & never was any PAK influence in BD, sadly. BD is a 3rd rate indian colony now.

I didn't know that. I thought he was propakistani coz he didn't support the 71 stance of Bangladesh and remained loyal to Pakistan. :) n e ways frankly bd also a non concern here except when bd govt kill some jamat leader. It makes a jamatiya like me furious.

Neither Ziaur Rahman nor Ershad were pro Pakistani after 25 March 1971. Both of them fought for their mother land Bangladesh.

@ So, bongbang, this is your source ? My foot !!! With this knowledge you are trying to argue with your great grand
father ? " Dobe mor hatu jol pani te".

@ It is a fact that the then Lt Colonel Ershad was commanding 3 rd East Bengal at Saidpur but soon before 25 March 1971, he was posted to West Pakistan and given the Command of 7 East Bengal. Once liberation war was going this Ershad silently came to Rangpur in leave and went back to West Pakistan. " Kothai agartola er kothai khater tula".
