Lost 3 crore, I need help

Know someone who had suffered the same way , the guys property was worth 1 crore something he gave the house to his brother to sell it, ithink he handed over documents to him the guy depsite being real blood brother sold the house and pocketed the money and showed a thenga to the brother.

I am sorry but i am not sold to 3 crore lost in 15 days to gamble excuse and i feel his suicide talk is also a fake drama to put pressure on ur father.

Dont give up fight. Approach a good lawyer consult him and report to fia , dont back down , no wonder he might have hidden the cash and not lost it to any mafia shafia. I dont believe 3 crore or 260 k dollars lost in a swoosh

Also some of those who are crying that "oh thats why i dont trust Pakistanis and family and friends back there are like this and that they are gluttonous abt ones hard earned money and stuff"

Just cut this nonsense out , when something is wrong with Pakistan it shud be pointed out but it doesnt mean one off incident which should be taken to generalize whole country, these kind of scams happen in any part of the world. Relatives and siblings cheat their relatives anywhere in the world.

If there is so much disgust about pakistan then just get lost and never visit it noone cares abt such unwanted uninvited haters.

And as of people suggesting Devdas ban kay maaf kar do then plz DONT he has comitted a wrong he needs to be taken to cleaners.

Get a lawyer. He'll first check if uncle is clean by legal means.
Get a private detective. He'll check uncle's properties by any means.
Meet local politician and offer one crore to make deal with his fellows in mafia.

.
My father and I live in the U.S and we have a lot of property in Pakistan in which we sell and buy to make money. We cannot make constant trips, so my father's handler for this business is his brother who my father trusted really well and we had bought/sold many properties through him.

We sold a plot worth around 3 crore (around 260,000 dollars) and the check/cash was given to my uncle in his name by the buyer. My uncle lost all of the money within a span of 15-20 days to gambling inflicting a large financial and emotional blow to the family.

There is little that we can do against the gambling mafia as they are dangerous and have lots of influence and connections, taking any action against them can threaten your life and the life of your family members.

Is there anything that can be done to recover this money through legal methods considering that gambling is illegal in Pakistan? I know it's pretty hopeless at this point, but are there any options?

My uncle was near to committing suicide and we would not like to press any legal actions against him. If it's possible, legal action should be directed towards the gamblers instead.
Well actually, it is your uncle's fault to be honest. It was he who got involved in gambling and that too with his brother's money. So to be, being RUDE, there are just two possibilities:
  1. Your uncle is wrong since he got involved in gambling which is illegal and it is him who should pay for the loss
  2. You uncle is telling a lie and he have just scammed you, gambling was just as excuse.
I am sorry, it is your family matter but since you were discussing it on public forum anyway, i had to share what i though about it.

.
If uncle is repeating that it's so dangerous to deal with gamblers, certainly at least make it look like you're gonna file case against them.
If he's lying, he might give up and money will be magically returned by the benevolent mafia.

I gotta say it's weird how much you still trust him. Don't even trust the suicide stories unless there's clear proof that it's not drama. I doubt that you do since you're abroad.

.
100% sure, your uncle scammed you!!! Suicide attempts are just a smoke screen & If someone want to commit, suicide he will not get caught multiple times. He is just trying to commit suicide to get caught. Scamming by relatives or trusted is everyday story of south asia!!!

Secondly, a low income (as you described, your uncle don't have assets more than he gambled) person generally don't have the guts or connections to gamble that large sum!!!

.
I too suspect that your uncle pocketed the money... this is the crazy thing about large sum of money, it can change person's nature.

.
I doubt he would do that, he has recently tried to commit suicide multiple times but was discovered and stopped by family members.

Tried? How far did he get to each time then? And whose family members stopped him?

What people do for money!

Bro, either say goodbye to the money forever or investigate your uncle one way or another.

And lesson learnt this should be. Do all these transactions yourself or don't do them at all. If you don't then be ready for more losses in future. Cancel all power of attorneys immediately.

If you have resources, check the properties bought under his family member names and any close friend of his.

. .
Follow the money,

If transaction happened then its either cheque payment or online or cash or a combination

Cheque and online will reflect directly in Bank, then ask your uncle if he deposited cash in Bank,

Now if there was a point where all 3 Cr was in the account then track withdrawals,
Question your uncle to the last detail for each withdrawal (where he gambled , who were the ppl etc.), grill him again and again to last detail, if the responses are incoherent then its your uncle.

If he has not deposited cash, then again grill him for each penny,
There are two possibilities either you will figure out that uncle is culprit, if he is not then you have a lot of data points / leads to share with the relevant authorities to go legal route

.
The money you have in your pocket is yours.
Rest you better forget and move on because in the end you will regret to lose your time running after a mirage and will get nothing in the end.
Other wise you may earn and save again if you let it go.
Remember I am asking you all that just in case if you have no hard evidence with you and what you have written I have given you my opinion.

.
Take your uncle to court! He was a baigharat who didn't care about his own brother or family so why do you?

Similar thing happened to my father by his own brother and brother's wife. A brother he treated like a son and gave everything to. The rest of the family forced my father to not take any action; and he himself didn't want to hurt his brother. But that same brother then continued to sting my father and his other siblings purely out of greed. People like them are the scum of the earth and deserve punishment.

First of all i'm sorry to hear such news, it's a cancer to Pakistani society and especially overseas Pakistani that want to invest in Pakistan.

May I ask where the plot was, if the plot was in Bahria Town I would suggest writing to Malik Riaz, he's actually very helpful and can probably help in one way or another. I know who had somewhat of a terrible experience (not similar to yours) and he wrote to Malik Riaz who helped him. If the plot is located in DHA then maybe try writing to your local Corps Commander or visiting DHA office, I would say that the staff at DHA are not helpful but it's worth a try.

Secondly I would suggest to you is taking the matter to court, sir I know that these Mafias are influential and have connections however the amount stated above is a lot of money for one and secondly it's your right to take the matter to court.

If the check has not been cashed yet and only been swapped between parties then I suggest you quickly ring up the person that wrote the cheque and tell them to call their bank and to stop any transactions from taking place for the time being.

Please, do you really expect some one to move on from an investment like that, please use your mind.
What are you trying to imply here, whatever happened to his money is unfortunate but your definition of Pakistani society is totally un acceptable, so don’t give him false hope and irrelevant advises. The gambling racquets are limited to very few especially when a money like this is involved.

It looks like by living in Britain you have lost your mind and yes Britain is no heaven and we all know what desis do.

.
Just cut losses and learn your lesson.

Don't get the law involved, it could misfire spectacularly and ruin the family.

Brother don't take it personally. Unfortunately if you talk to people who have gone abroad and helped thier siblings, at least half of them will tell you how they were ripped off by thier own siblings.

This is our reality, the high frequency of these events in our communities make us suspicious. It's not a reflection of you - first and foremost it's a reflection of those who are own blood relatives.
