What's new

Look: Pakistan’s first metro “The Orange Line Metro Train” ready to roll out

People in sindh are not my responsibility. If they are happy voting for pee pee pee while their children die of hunger and malnutrition then good for them. They can continue doing that

I am paying my taxes. I pay my utility bills. I am facing inflation. I voted for Imran Khan. If he can't even show intention of doing something for my city. If he continues to disrespect my city in the manner he has done in past 15 months then he can go and f*ck himself
Bro you're overemotional too much 14 seat for Karachi is nothing, it war between PPP and MQM is currently going on in Karachi for power, provisional govt is PPP with mayor from MQM, so now tell me what do you want to do by federal govt, any suggestions, i am from Karachi, don't blame others, we destroy ourselves @Areesh

http://www.apnapoint.com/BusRoutes.aspx

Show me any comparable (if not better) system from entire Pakistan. Almost every part of Karachi is covered.

This is bullish!t. Most of the routes that you shared aren't even functional anymore. The number of buses running on these routes have decreased further in past few years. I from Karachi and I know that.

Also the kind of buses that actually run on these routes are a big disgrsce to Karachi and its citizens

Your claim "Karachi has the best transport system in the world" is the worse joke ever. It looks like a poor satire or something

What do you mean 14 seats are nothing?

Imran Khan is PM because of these 14 seats. It is first time since 1970s that the party that won from Karachi is also the major party in federal government. It can do a lot if it has the intention. PTI has betrayed Karachi. They have lied to people of Karachi. Can't you see that?

So what the other options we left, MQM that's destroyed Karachi or PPP there are real servant from their own, if there are no full govt of PTI in Sindh there is nothing IK can't do much @Areesh

what are u smoking man? Almost all major parts of Delhi-NCR, which is 55,000 sq km, is covered by Delhi Metro and to this day, and the total cost hasn't even reached $200bn and u are talking $100tn!
Do you about the value of 200bn? A single high quality bus would not cost more than $100k in Pakistan.

https://www.olx.com.pk/item/foton-yutong-mini-bus-coaster-toyota-hino-iid-1003823011

In just $500mn, 5000 buses can be purchased which is more than enough for Karachi.

Kahan 200 billion aur kahan 0.5 billion

Re read my post carefully before blabbering like idiots. What I'm saying is that we dont need any metro shetro just use the already established routes with new big buses (and more buses) and proper management. I didn't say anywhere that Karachi has best functioning transport system. The system is best but in a deadly running condition

But junk system and creating lots of chaos in Karachi @Mujahid Memon
And the solution is reorganizing it, not a metro

Nl you are all wrong traffic increasing in Karachi but road infrastructures is not there to support this increase of traffic, we need a alternate transportation methods to ease up the traffic pressures from Karachi roads, whether its metro, previous circular railways or in distant possibility subways @Mujahid Memon :agree::agree:

Roads are enough. Just imagine to replace 30-40 motorcycles with a single bus. And traffic condition is due to the poor driving behavior of people. Many times I have seen traffic seen traffic jams only because two vehicles come in front of each other and rest becomes history. Several kms of traffic jam but the road beyond collision is empty. No one respect traffic signal lights (if there is any remaining). So I'm saying it again that metro is not a solution. Proper planning and management is. Metro will devastate this city if done without planning and management.

so u really believe that metro would cost $100tn then
it was meant to say that it will cost a lot and 200 billion is a lot.

While what you are saying is correct but every single large city similar in size to Karachi has an integrated network of subway system and rapid transit. They are not stupid to have those systems.

Imagine Karachi is a city of 20million (some say even 30 million) and if 1 in 10 residents has a car, that is still 2 million freaking cars!!!!. Cannot just rely on buses and people wouldn't be giving up the luxury of their own transport to go on dingy outdated and snail paced buses.

do you live in Karachi and do you what are the conditions of Roads in Karachi??, Roads are not enough for Karachi, Karachi needs alternate transportation methods for sure for ever increasing traffic in Karachi @Mujahid Memon

If old systems did not work well, how you people are so sure that metro will work? And what if metro becomes the same after a few years. What alternate system will you propose then? Flying cars and helicopters??
This is a very big question mark on our efficiency as a nation. We are one of the most inefficient people in the world. No wonder our economic condition is in such tatters

do you live in Karachi
Yes I do unlike you and thats why I know these things. I use public transport for daily transport about 13 km with only a single bus. If I choose the metro (which is currently in development) I first have to go to nearest metro station in a public transport, then drop to the nearest metro station to my workplace and then again pick a public transport to my workplace. Thats 3 times changing vehicle and metro will only cover 20-30% of the route.

Yaar i am not talking about currently we should start these projects, but in future when our economy improved, there no way we can improve the road infrastructure in Karachi because there no space left in Karachi to improve road infrastructure we can only repair, and you didn't answer my question DO YOU LIVE IN KARACHI @Mujahid Memon

Even with all the expansion, delhi metro doesn't cost $200bn. Thats what i meant.
Increasing buses is no solution for any urban city. At some point, you need rail. No means of transport can carry passengers in such quantity and with such speed that rail can.
Delhi tried with buses, even adding private buses and roads became hell because of that. And at one point, people get fed up of buses. Metro did reduce the congestion significantly and also carbon emissions. 2.3mn people ride the delhi metro daily.
The more you push the construction of metro, the more it will end up costing even if the tech becomes cheaper because other factors add up.
