It's a scam, LM is trying to scam India. Air forces around the world are getting rid of their F-16s, and the ones that are buying them, they're buying second hand, because they're cheaper than brand new. The only market that India would have is spare parts, and they won't make money on that, to cover the cost of this deal.

But by all means, buy the damn thing, give Pakistan a reason to get rid of its fleet of F-16s.

This is the best deal ever for India even if there is no market for the teen still technologically one of the best.

India can mature the technolgy in 7 years then it will help her to employ it in it's 5th Gen fighter don't tell me the F-35 20 years ahead of the teen that just none sense since this is B-70.

This is not possible , they will not transfer everything to India ...even India should think twice before buying some fighting platform from USA ...what if we buy 200 aircrafts and they stop providing spare parts .... or blackmailing India ...India has independent foreign policy no need to compromise that

There is no need to give any bargaining chips to US ... they are famous to stop all successful projects of their allies example are Canadian avro arrow and Israili Lavi ...... still they were behind sabotaging the cryogenic engine efforts of ISRO in early 90s and there are many indications that may CIA was behind the killings of BARC scientists

If India gets complete ToT including on engines, avionics and software codes then this is probably a better deal than anything India can get from the French.

This way, India doesn't only get an extremely potent platform, that can probably take on Rafael and hold its own, but also the opportunity to sneer down at PAF. Now that is a good deal!

All those concern are not valid for some reasons.

1- India is the new biggest ally of the US.
2- The US busy with it's new F-35 for the next 30 years
3-The US has the top tech demonstrated and represented by the f-35

So for all of those and may be some other reasons you are presented with the finest 4th Gen fighter on silver plate with great price.

F16 B70 is still one of the potent platforms and include 5th gen technologies. India needs a lighter plane to replete its Mig21s. F16 B70 are the best replacement for Mig21s. 120 F16 B70's are a force to reckon with in this region. May be @Windjammer might explain the capabilities of F16s as he follows this platform to minute details. There are plans by LM to make available F16 for next 20 years with F16 Vs meant for US Air Force

compared to the upcoming Pak-FA,J-20, it'll be oboslete in the next 15 to 20 years, but it's still a perfectly good proven plane nonetheless.

with your logic what's the point of building LCA?? is it just to gain knowledge in building airplanes?? you can get that same knowledge with the F-16 block 70 and it's a better overall plane.
