What is the concept behind 'Jamahiriya'? @jamahir

"jamahiriya" is the direct-democracy socialism concept developed in libya 1969 onwards by muammar gaddafi and his comrades in the "revolutionary command council".

a "jamahiriya" society is divided into self-governing communes where the people there take decisions for their commune and for the whole society in consensus ( common agreement, chance given to all )... these decisions will be within bounds of socialism... the higher levels of jamahiriya society will carry forward the decisions of the people... jamahiriya is the simplest and most natural form of political arrangement of a society.

in effect, jamahiriya runs by the authority of a socialist and revolutionary people... there is no president or prime minister... there are no political parties, career politicians, elections... it is the people who decide, directly, in physical gatherings.

the word "jamahiriya" is an invented arabi word which means "society run by authority of the people", though the word is derived from "jamoohriya" which means "republic".

"jamahiriya" by itself is not a completed communist society but it provides the true political arrangement for that end... a completed communist humanity is where governments have fallen, militaries have been disbanded, nationalism is erased and the people rule themselves.

there is another term for "jamahiriya" which is "third universal theory"... as it stands other than western capitalism and eastern party-based communism.

correct... and additionally...

1. not just a simple "yes or no"... if anyone has objections to a motion, they will voice their opinion and say why they vote "yes" or "no", or if someone has a suggestion or recommendation, they voice their opinion... this is compulsory... comes from the socialist credo "one who produces, can consume"... here the production is one's opinion... contribution to society is a right and a duty.

2. the voting will not be via paper votes or by computer buttons... since the voting has to be direct, with each's opinions and within a certain "basic people's congress" ( local area/commune ), the voting will be live and verbal, in a suitable hall or venue... the names will be recorded of course along with yes/no and opinions/suggestions/recommendations.

3. the voting will be recorded and supervised by the secretariat of that "basic people's congress"... and once complete, will be sent to the higher levels.

4. the secretariat itself of every "basic people's congress" will have been chosen by consensus by the people of that area by the same voting process.

a simple system... and it seems to have been adopted by "occupy london"...

Also you should have bothered to check out the video of the event that Sue Blackmore was talking about. He took her to the cleaners. Also Menas Kafatos and many many other scientists end up agreeing with him and are share his view with hell lot of scientific research to back them up. Even Leonard Mlodinow later on produced a theory backing the stuff Chopra was talking about.
