There are many high quality Ambulances which are retired / used could be also bought as with some Mechanical work with Pakistani Mechanics these extra units can also add to capabilities of city

Having one Fire brigade engine near Tax offices is also a good idea they tend to light up with fire alot

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and the Central district administration have cleared 600-metre area on either side of the Gujjar nullah.

They have razed 450 concrete structures along the drain so far. The operation to clear the stormwater drain started February 18.

Encroachments have been removed from the zero point at Nala Stop in New Karachi to Bismillah Bridge.

The demolition process is based on the technical study of NED University’s Department of Urban & Infrastructure Engineering. KMC officials are razing marked structures on both sides of the drain.

These structures were marked by the KMC Katchi Abadis Department and the district administration.

“The KMC removed concrete structures from 10% to 100% as per the marking on both sides of Gujjar nullah,” Senior KMC Director Bashir Siddiqui said.

Mazhar Khan, the KMC Katchi Abadis senior director, said they had decided to continue the operation from one bridge to another. There are multiple bridges on the drain that provide a way for pedestrians to cross it.

“The teams will start operation from Bismillah Bridge to Fatima Bridge from Thursday,” Khan told SAMAA Digital. The KMC is using both heavy machinery and manual labour to dismantle these illegal structures.

As per the survey, around 4,000 concrete structures are to be demolished on both sides of the drain to ensure a smooth flow of rainwater.

The KMC has yet to raze 3,550 structures to completely clear the banks of Gujjar nullah.

It started removing encroachments from stormwater drains in the first week of January. The KMC has already cleared the 8km long Mehmoodabad nullah.

Anti-encroachment operations in other parts of the city

The KMC conducted on Wednesday anti-encroachment operations in the East and South districts as well.

KMC staffers removed shutters, grills, cabins, puncture shops and pushcarts from service roads, footpaths and roads in the East district. They demolished portions of shops exceeding their limits too.

The operations were conducted on Abul Hassan Isphani Road, Khatam-e-Nabuwwat Chowk in Gulzar-e-Hijri and Ahsanabad.

In District South, KMC teams removed encroachments from Raja Ghazanfar Ali Road and Dawood Pota Road.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Monday set deadlines to put into operation two mega transport projects in Karachi — the Rs300 billion Karachi Circular Railway and Rs25bn Green Line Bus Rapid Transport — later this year.

The ministry in a statement said that the deadline for signing of first package (A) of the Integrated Transport System (ITS) contract has been set as March 26, followed by package B contract signing on April 2. The deadline for award of operational and maintenance contract for the project would be given by May this year.

While presiding over a meeting of all the stakeholders — Ministry of Railways, Sindh Infrastructure Development Company Limited (SIDCL) and Public-Private Partnership Authority (P3A) — the minister confirmed that the prototype buses would be ready for testing and commissioning by April 25.

While reviewing the KCR Freight Corridor project, the minister directed the Ministry of Railways, SIDCL, and P3A to finalise the Tripartite Agreement to determine the scope of work reflecting the role of each party in the mutually agreed projects to be initiated in Public Private Partnership/Build-Operate and Transfer modes.

Mr Umar directed that the Green Line BRT should be operational by August 2021 and asked SIDCL to review all the activities to achieve specific timelines with a partial and complete solution of ITS implementation.

The ministry said the meeting reviewed the pace of the Green Line BRT and KCR projects. Chief Operating Officer of SIDCL Bilal Memon briefed the meeting about the matters related to Green Line infrastructure progress and procurement update on operational sides of BRT.

The minister said the federal government was taking all measures to expedite the BRT project so as to ease the problems faced by Karachiites, currently exposed to hardship due to the absence of adequate public transport.

He said the federation was working beyond its responsibility to give Karachi its due rights.

Establishment hand in glove with PPP. Humay bataya gaya tha Rangers ab law and order control kariengaye. Lagta hai Rangers kay jawan duty ke baad PPP kay gundoon kay sath mill kar Karachi walon kay phone cheentay hain

By mid 22 we will find out whether KCR contract is signed or not
K-IV is already signed and WAPDA is targetting 2024. The problem with KIV is it has to be done from scratch as the orginal project with 10b spent was FLAWED..
BRT will know soon whats the progress

These three projects alone are worth 600b rupees of federal money
Ultimately they need to bill water/use water meters otherwise no amount of water will be enough

It is a karma in a sense. Pakistani establishment helps kachra of PPP hold iron grip over Sindh, and in return they are having to pick up Karachi's kachra. Allah Al haq hai.

Abhi bhi time hai, disenchantment and frustration is rising in Karachi. If in 2023 establishment again helps PPP gain a fourth straight government then I foresee widespread protests.
