My Urdu is limited, being raised in the US. But I'm sure it's better than all the "gangsters" there.

I think influency in Urdu is because of our large non-Urdu native population. Most people's first language is not Urdu. But that's not an excuse to just butcher Urdu with "gangster" colloquials.

But at the same time, Punjabi is becoming more soothed down, civil, and educated sounding with mixing with Urdu.

Actually i found People spoke better Urdu in Punjab compared to people in Karachi.

Karachiites have a clearer accent. Punjabis have more vocabulary.

Pakhtuns have neither. To be fair, Urdu is so much harder for us than others.​

Urdu and Hindi are the same language. The difference is in diction and script, not in the commonly spoken words.

But all those who lament the passing of classical Urdu, please remember that languages either change and absorb influences, or they die. No one speaks Latin or Sanskrit, because these languages ceased to provide the expression needed for the times.

Urdu and Hindi are the consummate amalgam languages. Try speaking English and mix Urdu words. Not very easy. Now try speaking Urdu and mixing English. Effortless!

That means that Urdu will continue to grow and evolve and other languages won't as much. IMHO, this is a huge advantage in Urdu's favor. It will survive for a very long time, just not in the way the purists like.
