LET NOT FORGET WESTERN SAHARA AND THE MOROCCAN OCCUPIER

You must be geographical blind or something, both cities are in Morocco, but Morocco is not claiming them yet, as well as the canary islands. It might take war or wisdom, but they will eventually be reclaimed by the Moroccans, like in the case of Western Sahara where Spain had to leave. It is a question of time. If they were not reclaimed yet, it is because they contribute to the local economy in the North, and the Moroccans didn't have to travel to Spain to buy western goods, there is a big black market in those two cities, as most Moroccans I know told me.

And by the way, you have just jumped 900 years of Spain's history under Muslim rule comprising the period you have mentioned !!!

On the same premises Turkey should leave Istanbul ,agreed ? Alas, not many people in the world think this way, what's done 500 years ago it's done.Ceuta and Melila are Spanish and EU territories and that's that.;)

And yes,900 years ago Spain was muslim, but 1400 years ago N. Africa and the Levant were christian. We can play the "go back in time game" all day long like children or we can be adults and accept today's realities for what they are.

well they tried to test the waters, with the take over of the Perisil Islet from Spain, and we all know how that ended. Mellila and Ceuta are Spanish, and Spanish they will stay....

That is one Jew, Morocco acts as transit place, like in the case of the Shah of Iran and others.
Transit place for child molesters too?

You didn't win against the bearded, your government had to sign a peace treaty, for which I am happy, because that civil war was painful for any true Arab and muslim.

our bearded one had their spine broken, their skull fractured and Algeria nailed the coffin of fundamentalist Islam..
you are talking about a surrender not a truce..
the 5000 that deposited their arms had only two choices...surrender or death...We all saw it when they attacked Tiguentourine...
They were given the same choices, they chose the wrong answer and they were given one way ticket to meet their virgins.
And other precisions, North Africa is not arab, its Berber, and the 90's weren't a civil war, it was a direct attack on Algeria by the same actors that have and still destroying Syria. The same that killed kaddafy and turned Libya in a waste land, the same one that turned lately Iraq in a nightmarish hell!

Morocco, kingdom ... appearances?
WORLD | Updated Saturday, October 4th, 2014 at 3:44 p.m.
Who is really Mohammed VI and how its political system works? Fifteen years after the accession to power of one that the press dubbed the "King of the poor", the Moroccan journalist Omar Brouksy provides lighting. In his book "Mohammed VI, behind the masks" it paints a picture that is not a nice postcard ...

Flipping through the table of contents, hard not to frown. First, there are the chapter titles: "Journey of a mute king , "" Little Muslim Pope, " " King of the poor? " " The potentate and his buddies "... Everything indicates a work-settlement of account, a pamphlet assassin. So, as an aperitif, before immersing himself completely in the book, it pecks here and there, a few sentences.Doubt takes us. And if it was nothing less than a catalog of taboo subjects in the kingdom? Omar Brouksy evokes that the King, his health, his moods, his money, his power, his debtors. It is also about religion, Western Sahara, cannabis ...

Then eyeing the preface. Gilles Perrault is the author. A guarantee of professionalism. The writer who published in 1990 " Our friend the King , "a book-shock that showed the world the hidden face of Hassan II, with the convicts of Tazmamert and immured in Kelaât M'gouna wrote: " The kingdom of Hassan II it was the castle of Bluebeard. By comparison, that of "M6" is rather that of Sleeping Beauty with the basement, the cave of Ali Baba, although old repressive reflexes are quick to resurface ".

So, quite puzzled, is immersed in the book. And, against all odds, through the pages, it's a new realm that appears, or, more accurately, a photograph of a kingdom ... without cliché.

    Machine battle

Omar Brouksy is based on the facts and set in motion an amazing machine to fight. Result corrosive. It gives us another image of the sovereign, its absolute power and his courtiers predators that remain foremost, he recalls, "subjects of Her Majesty."

It depicts the image of a country that bears no resemblance to what the Western media continue to propagate and where often complacency vies with sycophancy.

So Omar Brouksy takes everything from the beginning. He referred to the "difficult" relationship with his father, Hassan II , and debunks the legend of "modern young king" known as "king of the poor" when he ascended the throne.

The "king of the poor?" Brouksy Omar recalls that under the Finance Act this year, " the Moroccan monarchy costs the taxpayer, all section, nearly 250 million euros , "the budget" People "has even been dubbed" from 21 million in 2010 to 40 million euros in 2012 , "not to mention the maintenance of thirty palaces and royal residences. And remember that poverty in the kingdom do not retreat, it sometimes kills (as in 2007, to twenty five Anfgou where infants died due to cold wave). This "other Morocco", the advertising brochures mention little, with his medical and deserts where illiteracy affects 40% of the population.

For the journalist and academic, who likes support where it hurts, ALL in Morocco is questionable.Freedom of the press? Newspapers too critical by depriving them of advertising dollars is asphyxiation. Its status as "Commander of the Faithful"? Religious status " granted unilaterally since 1962 , "says Omar Brouksy who prefers to evoke a" so-called direct link between the king and the prophet Muhammad . " He writes: " This "legend" However based on any reliable historical argument is used by the official propaganda to reinforce the status. "supreme religious leader" on the Moroccan Muslim community . "

    Calm and precise

However, in Morocco, there he had any progress made? One thinks of the electrification of the kingdom to "Mudawana" This new family code adopted by Parliament in February 2004 and is a major reform of the status of Moroccan women, not to mention the Equity and Reconciliation Commission ( IER), the first truth commission established in North Africa (re) know the serious violations of human rights committed and compensate victims.

We meet Omar Brouksy during his visit to Paris. It did nothing to profile illuminated, anti-monarchy, happy to have (maybe) a successful coup editing. No, it's not revenge that seems to have guided his pen but a disappointment, 15 years after the ascension of Mohammed VI.

What motivates the writing of such a book?

First, in Morocco, there is no well-developed tradition of this type of work, a political dimension. It's fairly new as Moroccan journalists who have worked for a long time in politics reflect their experience through books. There has been only one Moroccan author, Ali Amar , who has written a political book on Morocco, there a few years. I think it is a tradition that must not only be maintained but encouraged. Look at what is happening in France, there are dozens and dozens of books that come out every year! This is not something that should raise eyebrows. was the feeling that your book can be a matter of a machine to do battle on the kingdom .. . This is a job that I wanted from the beginning, description of what is happening, or has happened, based on proven facts and intersected. That was my priority to allow the drive itself to reach its own conclusions. There is a lot of information. Some appear for the first time. By "King of the poor" in your notes a hoax? It is a slogan that has no translation into reality. The King of Morocco is one of the wealthiest people on the planet! In the book, I talk about all its properties, all financial groups that control .. But you go further, you question his affiliation with the Prophet .. But there is no scientific work that proves ! Again, this is a legend because it is not based on historical fact. This fits in with the whole strategy of legitimation of political power by the religious dimension. This is something well known in Morocco and in the Arab-Muslim countries. For example, in Saudi Arabia, the ruling family itself as the protector of Mecca. This is what makes the problem of the Arab world and that poses a problem for the whole process of democratizing the region. Brushing the portrait of a man subjected to health problems, particularly angry and a bit hasty when to take important diplomatic decisions ... Regarding his health, I have some questions but they are questions that arise every Moroccan whenever they see them when they make a speech to the nation where the we see his face swollen, puffy etc. This is an issue that is entirely legitimate. The health of heads of state is not within the privacy of heads of state. It takes some transparency so that citizens are aware. Still, he decides the fate of 34 million people. Sometimes it feels a rant, a reckoning, a challenge with a preface Gilles Perrault, who wrote "Our Friend the King "and that the book's publication caused a very serious diplomatic crisis between France and Morocco? In Morocco, every time we call a spade a spade, this seems like a provocation! They say "it goes too far." That's because we have not used in Morocco to discuss the real power. They are surrounded by taboos. The fact that the book is prefaced by Gilles Perrault is for me a source of great pride. I admire this author and his intellectual honesty. Then, too, there are many elements of continuity with his contribution to the book: political power is monopolized by the monarchy. He has only to read the Constitution, you will see. The policy continued detention, particularly against militants on February 20, the movement that emerged in the wake of the Arab Spring, social inequalities are there, with unemployment ...

@Ceylal
Pardon my ignorance, but is Morocco considered the main strategic rival to Algeria, and if so how intense is the rivalry?
And is there any rivalry between Algeria and Egypt (except for football lol)
Thanks

In truth there is one sided rivalry if we can call it that, but its a really a non sense on going nuisance of Morocco, that is now limited to insults and un-diplomatic behaviors the later...Some of that behavior is pure casus belli, like flooding
algeria with drugs...Morocco is always conveying that her problems are caused by Algeria which is false...Algeria does not have a claim on Western Sahara, and it is a problem of decolonisation as entered in the UN...Algeria didn't close her border with Morocco, it was Morocco who closed it...Algeria didn't block the UAM( ARAB UNION OF THE MAGHREB), it Morocco who blocking it...
And a a strategic rival, Morocco, militarily, economically has no weight whatsoever...If it wasn't the financial help that she is receiving from the GCC, Morocco will be in dire straight...despite that she is facing enormous problem internally..
For Egypt, its a different kind of political jousting.. Before Nasser and the FLN choice to be based in Cairo, North Africa shared a great history and a culture with Egypt, and some of the pheroah, as Shanshak is of north african origin.
Today, Egypt owing to her cultural weight, believe that every MENA state owes her particularly Algeria...Algeria in the other hand, at least the revolutionaries in power think they owe Egypt for being there for them, but they do not grasp exactly what do they owe...That is the Algerian psyche...Algeria joined her in two wars with Israel, kept her skies free from Israeli crafts , stopped the IDF advance, and kept her troops during the attrition war..replenished her arsenal after being destroyed.
There is and they will be always rivality in soccer, since both teams are very competitive...What made the 2010 apart , was the involvement of the Mubarek clan, that wanted to promote the elder son to the throne, and to achieve a strong people support, was to spread false info that the Egyptian team suffered and was attacked in Blida by Algerian fan, which was a blatant lie and was debanked by referrees...

MOROCCAN PANIC.

Christopher-Ross12-300x199.jpg

When makhzen draws against Algeria is ,that it is necessarily driven on the diplomatic scene. It is an almost Pavlovian response to a tottering kingdom trying, somehow, to reunite the poor around the Moroccan Throne practicing his favorite sport: breaking Algeria.

The last bitter campaign marked by an unfounded accusation of alleged firing by the Algerian army against Moroccan border, is a perfect illustration.

This is how to approach each month of April, the date of the annual review of the Saharawi question to the Security Council and the inevitable debate on the extension of the mandate of MINURSO for Human Rights, Rabat plays coy virgin.

This time, the kingdom loses his cool following the appointment of Kim Bolduc (Canada), as the new Special Representative of the Secretary-General and head of MINURSO successor to the German Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber, whose term s' was completed on 31 July.

A diplomat that makhzen does not know and who he suspects will to do its job properly laayoun occupied.Rabat tried in vain to get "classifications" but especially "guarantees" that its mandate would not affect his diplomatic agenda of blocking any outcome of peace negotiations in Western Sahara.

For now, Rabat insists on not wanting to host the same way as Mr. Ross wants to make a new tour in the region.

The decisive briefing of Ross.

And the day before the briefing of Christopher Ross, Personal Envoy of Ban Ki-moon to the Security Council, scheduled Monday, October 27, 2014, Rabat is busy and agitated with France and the United States to interfere sheet Road Ross Rabat accused of "double standards".

Makhzen wishes as well as France and the United States give their support at the meeting next Monday.

Nothing is guaranteed as long as media leaks report that Deputy Assistant Secretary for Near Eastern Affairs at the State Department, John Desrochers said in Rabat during his visit last week that "the dynamics must continue "and required" avoid freezing the process. " In other words, Ross and his new collaborator Bolduc received support from Washington.

The US has enough and shows her discontent

So the monarchy sees red. Especially since John Desrocher reportedly told Moroccan officials do not understand the "continuing refusal" of Morocco to host Ms. Bolduck and continue to postpone the visit of Mr. Christopher Ross.

It is obvious that the kingdom which is used to choose the most UN diplomats who take care of the Saharawi folder is turned off Thurs The fact is that Christopher Ross is definitely committed to the idea that the Western Sahara is a "territory not independent "in accordance with international law and the resolutions of the United Nations.

And it is the sacred principle of the so-called "Moroccan" of Western Sahara, which falls into the water at the UN. A very dangerous prospect for Rabat has long fooled the world by buying Western backers through the checkbook of his majesty. The time of Realpolitik may have happened. The terrorist threat in the Sahel and Libya tells the powerful of the world need to change their rifle carrying shoulder in a conflict that has dragged on for more than 30 years

On the Green March's commemorative speech M6 the Moroccan king accuse Algeria of undermining the Western Sahara solution and the regional security.
07_photo_29095_135985.jpg

The Moroccan press and the foreign minister have continuously attacked Algeria, which in turned brushed off the accusations as recurring non-sense diatribe.
No Comments, when servility is taught as a religion....
