Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s Founding Father, Dies at 91

I don't think so, LKY would still not be in charge of Malaysia

If Malaysia and Singapore stayed united, i have confidence that it would have been depolarized , unlike what it is today. Lee Kuan Yew would have been a crucial player for leveraging a truly multiracial society --- as he had done in Singapore.

.
I would like to see him live for another 10 years and say this to his successors

"Now its not too late we can fully embrace China and ditch the USA. Lets not forget to commemorate the liberation of Singapore from the Imperial Japanese occupation and establish that as a national holiday. Gosh I was almost sent to a concentration camp by the Japanese"

RIP

It was lack of vision, coupled with prejudicial policy, that the Malaysian Federation ejected Singapore. It is now, to their loss, their greatest policy failure ever adopted -- to cede Singapore. It was based on the the failure of the Tunku's visage to see a multiracial base.

Let us dichotomize Singapore with Malaysia. Singapore is , in essence, a multiracial state; with Chinese, Malays, Indians, and other nationals living in the state. Note -- that it is a depolarized state -- with ethnic groups marrying each other, living with each other, working, communing together. Malaysia, on the other hand, is polarized with their Bumiputra policy set in place. Lee Kuan Yew actually stated in an interview:

"I think if the Tunku had kept us together, what we did in Singapore, had Malaysia accepted a multiracial base for their society, much of what we’ve achieved in Singapore would be achieved in Malaysia. But not as much because it’s a much broader base. We would have improved inter-racial relations and an improved holistic situation.”

“Now we have a very polarized Malaysia, Malays, Chinese and Indians in separate schools, living separate lives and not really getting on with one another. You read them. That’s bad for us as close neighbors.”

Imagine if Malaysia had not expelled Singapore. It would have been a larger version of Singapore , more or less.

Not really, they got what they wanted. Ketuanan Melayu.

You need to visit Malaysia. Get to know more Malays. They rather be poor than have Chinese rule. They don't want to share the same fate as the Red Indians in the US.

Truly , he was a legend in our midst. Please listen to his lecture on change and continuity.

Brilliant....

.
He made Singapore having near to no natural resources into one of the advanced and developed countries not only in the region but in the world.

----------------------------------

With a GNP per capita of less than US$320, Singapore was a third-world nation with poor infrastructure and limited capital. Low-end commerce was the mainstay of the economy and the handful of industries that existed produced only for domestic consumption, leaving no room for direct foreign investment.

The Sixties

----------------------------------

One of the model nation on how to develop a nation without natural resources, only if our politicians and lawmakers were sincere to learn and implement.

This system is not originated by Lee. In fact, Lee learn a thing or 2 from them.
When KMT handed over their one-party system to the separatist party, the decline of Taiwan unveiled.
Now, they'd rather live a life of 小確幸, I don't see any hope for their future when every company there is labeled "evil consortium" and thinking about moving to the mainland.

Salute and respect for Lee Kwan Yew, one of the most admirable leader in ASEAN

I don't think Malaysia would have changed to another country if Lee had been in charge of Malaysia.

He was an admirer of Suharto. Both Suharto and Lee Kuan Yew were both pivotal leaders in ASEAN. They both now belong to history....

Kuan Yew is also a protector and advocate for the worst financial feces. During 2008 financial crisis whereby banks here cook toxic, lied, scam ripping off billions in Singapore, Kuan Yew defended them.

Lehman investors 'aware of risks'

MANY who bought financial products linked to collapsed investment bank Lehman Brothers went in with their eyes open, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew said ...

USA related people are wildly in love of Kuan Yew for funny reasons. Kuan Yew is a toxic now but he is like by mankind feces like banksters, USA imperialist and warmonger.

Many PRC despise Kuan Yew.

Problem is our institution do not take in our citizen as post-grad, which is unique in the entire world.
Below is elite profession --Doctor. In year 2010, there are more foreigners taken in. Our medical school until very recently take in around 100++ students a year, on a population of 4-5 million.

Not both but trio, along with DR. Mahattir Muhammad, the trio is the center of ASEAN

Haha, Soeharto has his own charisma, but in the end he is turn into a greedy and corrupt leader and lot of Indonesian till today doesn't acknowledge him. To me, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Abdurrahman Wahid is much better person than Soeharto

I can't forget the great mind that was Sukarno. One of my favorite leaders in ASEAN history, actually. :)
