This is all meaningless when nearly all of the 'elected' officials are hardened criminals, many with close ties to mafias/dons. When the Babus don't care for the people, only to line up their own pockets then it is the people that suffers. Get rid of the systematic caste discrimination AND the corrupt goons first.

What if the dictator turns out to be the same as a goon, Iraq, NK !! Its not that everyone is corrupt. Yes, I agree, we are not living in a perfect democracy, but than we are better off choosing such persons than being ruled by them. Things are changing. Lot of goons lost in recent elections, and things seem to be improving.
About caste discrimination, this has greatly reduced. We may not have completely eliminated it, but now it is negligibly small compared to what it was at the time of freedom. All this problems will be solved with the spread of education. You have to get your anti-India goggles off to see the changes.

But that's because your only seeing one side of the coin. How does a nation which does not care for its people even exist, In fact even thrive. India does exist and Does thrive.

There are also people who care in the very same government.

Caste discrimination is illegal under the law and against the constitution.

But we cant stop two people on the road discriminating against each other due to caste. This is something Built into the societies of Rural India. You can just make a declaration and wish it away. People need to change their views.
Caste discrimination is the same as racism you can make it illegal, But you cant get rid of it overnight. GOI has been trying for over 50 years. I can only hope people will become enlightened Enough to see past such archaic concepts.
