Radar was sourced from Erricson Ferranti, carbon-fibre composite panels for wings from Alenia and fly-by-wire controls from Lockheed Martin. Design help was sought from British Aerospace, Avion Marcel Dassault and Deutsche Aerospace. Wind tunnel testing was done in the US, Russia and France. As for armaments -- missiles, guns, rockets and bombs -- every last item was to be imported.

For other people wondering, look up journal papers for LCA. Our scientists have always published our findings in extremely reputed papers. When I was a student I had membership into IEEE society. It was amazing to read back then the research and development that happened on the Tejas.
People who have amazing instagram skills should user photoshop or whatever app teenage girls use these days on their phones to further their agenda on instagram. Trying that on a popular forum is actually a disgrace for the forum's reputation..

We cannot make an engine but we can buy another one from another country and make necessary changes to the airframe structure all by ourselves. We have never claimed the Tejas to be 100% indigenous, heck! our MOD publishes a report that even you guys read.
But when a country severely lacks in engineering and research capability, you need to get off the high horse you think you are riding.
Heck give me the name and credentials of the chief designer of your 5th gen aircraft! Which agencies are involved? can you give me links to journal papers on 5th gen fuselage design, stealth, etc from agencies that are supposedly involved in your NG plane?

First flight was in 2001 of the prototype. 40 years back we could barely cover one or two months of import. The project was conceptualized when we were under sanctions, and isolation. So your argument of time frame does not matter.So what’s the purpose of the whole exercise? Have an operational just fighter in large numbers at a reasonable cost to replace obsolete aircraft or simply design an aircraft for the sake of designing one.
The original purpose of the Tejas was to replace large number of Mig 21 and 27s in IAF inventory. Has that purpose been achieved? BTW I stand corrected, it has been in development for 40 years not 30.

I knew I was preaching to the choir. I'm sure you didn't read even one paper to understand what effort and time is spent through the research. But, I don't blame you. Your attitude is not different from the scientific community in your country. It's very evident that such a climate doesn't even exist at levels that can make you capable of even nurturing an aviation industry that can also develop and not just produce. I am not claiming we are there, but we are building such foundations across various industries.
As a Country, Pakistan has always been closer to the west than India until recently. Nothing stopped Pakistan from getting technology from the west -- an example you use to diminish contributions from my country.
Ever wondered why you don't have that foundation I spoke about above? Pakistan just does not have the scientific community or neither a thirst to develop one. If you did, you would never belittle somebody's sincere efforts.
