Launching of 600 tons Maritime Patrol Vessel being built for Pakistan Maritime Security Agency

Launching ceremony of 600 Tons Maritime Patrol Vessel being built for Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), was held at Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works (KS&EW) on 5th Dec. 2017. Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi NI(M) Chief of the Naval Staff graced the occasion as Chief Guest. The ceremony was attended by high ranking officials from GoP, Pakistan, Navy, China, Corporate Sector and KS&EW.

The vessel is being built with technical collaboration of China Shipbuilding & Trading Co. (CSTC). The ship is a state of the art, multi-mission vessel with steel hull and aluminium super structure having length of 68.5 m, breadth of 8.7 m and can achieve a top speed of 27 knots. The ship is fully equipped to enforce maritime security, search and rescue mission in maritime exclusive economic zone of Pakistan.

On the occasion, the Chief Guest congratulated KS&EW, CSTC (China) and PMSA on achieving this important milestone and said that it is yet another land mark project that speaks volumes of the evergreen friendship between China and Pakistan. He added that responsibilities of Pakistan Navy and especially PMSA have increased manifolds after start of CPEC and extension in EEZ. While highlighting the significance of CPEC, he said that it will transform Pakistan into a regional economic hub. He appreciated that KS&EW is translating the national goal of self-reliance / indigenization in defence production. It is amongst few government organizations which has not only made turnaround but also making profit consistently.

Earlier, MD KS&EW R/Adm Syed Hasan Nasir Shah HI(M) in his welcome address said that construction of 600 Tons Maritime Patrol Vessel at KS&EW is part of contract between Min. of Defence Production and M/s CSTC (China) for construction of 6 MPVs for PMSA. He said that that these MPVs will act as a force multiplier for PMSA in safeguarding maritime frontiers of Pakistan together with Pakistan Navy. He added that all other ongoing projects at KS&EW including 1500 Tons MPV, 32 Tons Bollard Pull Tugs and FAC(M)-4 are progressing satisfactorily. He also thanked PN / GoP for entrusting KS&EW with mega project of construction of 04 x AIP submarines and informed that preparations for the project are in full swing to start it as per schedule time.

Obviously thank you to the Navy officers/Navy cheif and also the engineering group / workers visible in background down to the smallest Junior Engineer that put a nut or bolt on ship nice turn around time

Nice to see Pakistan Navy making small stride to improve all ares of Navy / Marine Security with Local Man power

At least Put On this missile TY-90 so it can protect in time of attack from ship or air.
