I spent nearly 2 weeks going round the island 2 yaers back. The average soldier knows the reality and don't want to fight, one ex soldier told me, you don't have to invade, just use naval blockade and the whole island will tank. Lol

It’s one thing to share opinions and another when boots are actually on the ground. Businesses will be destroyed, cities desecrated, families lost, rapes, and all the other casualties that come from war. The opinions they hold now will be different to when an actual conflict does happen.

probably one of the biggest jokes I hear is that Taiwan civilians will actually take up arms to fight the PLA, look I'm from Iraq & while Iraq isn't exactly a military power it's civilians are for sure much more likely to take up arms against an enemy than Taiwan civilians are regardless of what keyboard warriors say and yet even when ISIS came if I remember correctly at most only 2 million people (probably less than that) actually volunteered that is 2 million out of a population of 36 million so around 5.5% of the population and even then the main fighters remained the few dozens of thousands worth of militiamen who had past experience from the 2003-2011 war because even if you train a civilian the moment bullets and limbs start flying all over the place that civilian will forget everything he learned and he will just become useless.

actually even well experienced infantry is 100% useless in modern war, infantry is only usefull in small skirmishes (eg: border conflicts) modern war is all about who controls the sky, if you control the airspace then that's it you have won and your enemy is f**ked.
the only case in a major modern war in which infantry was effective even when faced by an enemy that has absolute military superiorty was in Yemen but I believe it is safe for us to say the average Taiwanese civilian is a billion times less likely to volunteer than your average Yemeni civilian, LOL probably even the average Taiwanese soldier is less likely to fight than the average Yemeni civilian.

in the end they always fall back to the same thing "America will save us" but if America doesn't save you then you are f***ed the moment you lose your airforce.
