I think SU30 MKI is already in its matured stages and not much can be done on this platform.. An Indegenous BVRAAM is all it needs, once integrated that part will also have been completed and the platform will be a completely matured one..
The Israeli JV should focus more on developing the LCA and more to come AMCA platforms, those are the real game changers.. If LCA could get an Israeli made AESA mini version, then with python, Derby and Astra integrated, that itself is more than enough to take care of any threat that comes from the west atleast for the next 10 years... But meantime works should be carried out in faster pace to bring Shakthi engine to produce enough thrust to propel LCA in few years then we have a completely capable embargo free platform, which could form a base for the Advancements we need to focus on our AMCA..

i have serous doughts that will russia let israel take away such a luekrative contract and will certainly play arm twisting game with india until india gives them a bigger better contract my guess is russia might agree supply new engines while an indo-israeli joint venture will take care of giving AESA radar , AESA based ECM & EW suit and self protection jammers and all the associated hardware and software + a new cockpit making MKI way way better than russia hoped to make its Su35s but all of this is just a rumor will onli celebrate it when the deal is signed

A deal for FGFA and everything will be hunky dory, still IAF will evaluate it with Russian offer that too if it comes with the Page that PAk Fa carries

look at it this way if this deal goes thru which i dont think it will but if it goes thru then MOD will delay or reduce FGFA order and very very bright chances of Israeli partner ship in R&D of AMCA & AURA and rest you can speculate yourself

I have thing about Russian Engines, the smoke that they give out, is more than a vintage steam engine. look at the RD-93 and derivatives.. You can shoot the plane by looking at the smoke no radar needed.

In an other way whatever may be our stance on Israeli partnership we cannot ignore the developments to our east and a positive decision on PAK FA or FGFA will be inevitable and necessary also

Russia needs money bhai, and it will give us what we want if we carry negotiations like that. if not hten they will simply sell it to the Chinese, but a too strong China is not in Russia's interest too...

Israel and India have much to benefit from Each other the potential of this partnership is yet to be realized.

Technically RD series is a 70s product how do you expect it to be on par with today's engine design
