Lahore Under Attack

PMLN in past and Present still support Banned organization ... Talibans are running here and there ... they are hiding in cities , Madarsas and Mosques ... there must be a huge National level Operation must be conducted on every Madarsas , registered or non Registered ..

On a sad issue like this, did you REALLY need to include political crap??? I can go ahead and add that IK is the only Taliban sympathizer in recent times within Pakistan's political system. Plus, the same Taliban terrorists were supported by your military regime as a "Strategic Depth". Sadly, the same irrational strategic depth is trying to destroy Pakistan's natural depth and its civilians by these terrorist attacks.

RIP to the dead.

Maybe this will wake up Punjab Government and they decide to go after the sleeper cells; Though I have little hope.

So you are saying that Punjab government is responsible for terrorism in Pakistan? They say that there is a time and place for everything. On these sad issues where humans get killed....do you MUST bring up your political views and bash others?

Everyone on here knows how big of a mess Sindh is (many get killed every day, many bomb blasts happen in KPK, many killings in Baluchistan). Punjab is probably the only better place to live and from a peace standpoint. Your own IK and the military have supported these barbaric Taliban terrorists.....and here you are, just trying to point score on the Punjab government, tactless, and obviously wrong timing for such posts!

Need to Build USA Homeland Security like Setup to get rid of them otherwise they would going to continue with their Killing Spree.

This was needed many years ago. You guys need a homeland security and border protection control system ASAP.

Unless you know Punjab government tacit support to ASWJ, you don't go in circles and blame IK and Armed forces. Try to avoid rhetoric next time before moving in circles and use google or better read Pakistani newspapers . Would save us some time

LEAs want ‘N’ lawmaker on fourth schedule of ATA

GUJRAT: The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and the district intelligence committee have sought inclusion of a ruling party’s lawmaker from Gujrat in list of the fourth schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) due to his alleged links with some banned outfits.

The fourth schedule restricts the movement of a person placed on the list from the place of his permanent residence without seeking prior permission from police. Besides, he is bound to keep police informed of the place of visit and the people he meets during his stay.

An official confirmed that the representatives of almost all the LEAs like the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau, special branch, Counter-Terrorism Department and security branch of the Gujrat district had presented their reports on the proposed names to be placed on the fourth schedule as well as the list of those who were to be detained for three months under the Maintenance of the Public Order (MPO).

These reports were presented in the meeting of the district intelligence committee chaired by District Coordination Officer Liaqat Ali Chatha in which District Police Officer Rai Ijaz Ahmed also participated.

The source further said at least four new names, including that of the PML-N’s lawmaker from Gujrat as well as a senior central leader of an outfit of the Barelvi sect, were recommended by the authorities for the fourth schedule list whereas 19 others, mostly belonging to sectarian organisations and banned outfits from Kharian and Sara-i-Alamgir tehsils, had already been proposed in the previous meeting of the district intelligence committee about 10 days ago.

DCO Chatha confirmed that the LEAs had sought the addition to the fourth schedule list and the PML-N lawmaker’s name was also recommended by them but the notification of the inclusion of any name in the list would be issued by the provincial home department. He said another meeting of the divisional intelligence committee was scheduled in the Gujranwala commissioner office on Monday (today) where the recommendations of all the district intelligence committees of the region would be reviewed and the lists would formally be forwarded to the home department.

Another source said three different lists had been prepared by the LEAs, first of the new entries in the fourth schedule, second of those who were to be detained and the third list would comprise of those who would face trial under counter-terrorism law for acting as facilitator and financer for terrorists or the militant organisations.

Meanwhile, reports say that a group of the ruling party lawmakers from Gujrat have started pursuing the officials of the district government and a law enforcement agency in Gujrat to exclude the name of their colleague from their list.

The lawmaker in question is said to have a very close association with a young member of the Sharif family who was behind getting the party ticket for him in general elections despite the stiff resistance by the local party cadres from Gujrat.

At least 15 men, belonging to different sectarian and banned outfits, have already been notified in the list of fourth schedule and so far 23 new names had been recommended for the list whereas at least five local leaders of the banned outfits have already been detained under 16-MPO in the district jail with 13 more such persons under scrutiny.

However, a senior official in a law enforcement agency said no further detention would be made in the district.

I am not sure what point you are trying to bring up with the post above.........if someone is found to support the terrorists, you should arrest him and send to hell or life in jail. There are and were any military officers who were found to be Taliban supporters, who were arrested and court martialed. This problem exists in Pakistan's roots.....not sure how you can conveniently blame an elected government, who actually formed the FIRST every national policy against terrorism and is taking steps to implement it to secure your country.

A country where the military and the ISI runs all security related affairs.....when something like this happens, it is the current government's fault of course, as always. BUT, otherwise, on everything else, these civilian guys run their breathing by the orders and approval of the military.

So you people on here need to really decide, either these civilian people are totally in power, and above the military and the ISI, that they are hiding these terrorists (REALLY?); or these guys just take orders from the military on everything, as you guys claim and glorify in every other thread. If that's the case, then the military should take anyone or everyone away to jail, whoever is a threat. So since these civilian people have to power as the military holds all the power and can do anything, then the blame goes to the military and the ISI as it failed to protect the country??

Here's your leadership and its ties with Islamic parties, from current to past in historical order:

1) Currently in 2015: Pashtun support in Sindh for ANP and for Talibans fractions. The same people have transport related business and they transport terrorists, drugs and weapons to Sindh.

2) Currently, in 2015: MQM's militant wing in Karachi (which is really a terrorist organization as it kills civilians and used to leave them in body bags, still hasn't changed its violent politics, it is believed that every senior high ranking member has been involved in direct or indirect murder of opponents or of people who wouldn't bow their heads to Altaf)

3) Currently, in 2015: Ethnic / Pashtun / Baluchi support for violence in Baluchistan and support for RAW and Taliban terrorists by many rich and powerful sardars and their tribesmen

4) Till last year, 2014: Imran Khan's blatant support in favor of Taliban terrorists. He did many sit ins, blocking of NATO supplies, threatened to go to war against the NATO if he was to come in power and drone attacks were to happen, etc, etc, in favor of Taliban terrorists. Later, he resorted to violence throughout Pakistan and attacked the country's parliament and caused BILLIONS of business loss and many innocents got killed!!!

4) Till late 2013: PMLN used to be viewed as having "soft corners" for Islamic parties throughout Pakistan, not Punjab only. However, that has changed in the past two years, and has ended this year with Peshawar attacks. Unlike IK, Altaf or others, these guys haven't been associated with direct killings or violence similar to what IK did or Altaf did. These people have also not been blocking NATO supplies or doing sit ins at the Afghan border in favor of Taliban terrorists. Soft corners for someone and actually practically, openly supporting Taliban or other terrorists, are very opposites.

5) Since the 80's till 2008: Musharraff, Baig, Zia ALL supported violent Islamists as a proxy to India (and India spread her share of terrorism inside Pakistan obviously). But these military chiefs considered taliban terrorists "assets" to increase Pakistan's strategic depth against India.

Almost every single leader, civilian or military (but a much lesser degree of PPP and PMLN leaders) have supported Taliban terrorists.

Today, India has 100 time stronger economically and three times stronger militarily. However, lack of proper thought process on Pakistan's end, is causing the SAME "strategic depth" to kill innocent children to adults to elderly throughout Pakistan.

Punjab govt needs to wake up

Is there any other agency in PK which has the ability to resolve this crisis besides the PA
nopes. the problem is tribal areas. they have support there as well. as they use religion to thier brain washing. Unless we are able toi seal border with afghanistan . Nothing cant be achieved

yeah sure you can add anything about IK :)
he is not my favorite leader hahaha

This is not a terrorist attack.

This is an attack by criminal underworld mafia.

This is what happens when you have a big country and no method of surveillance.

All I see is politicians talk big words and hold meetings but no real work taking place. Practical steps like CCTV and efficient policing which follow up on intelligence reports, basic things like this are not implemented.

Police is still corrupt and does not function.

They have not taken any real steps forward on ground, just talk big words.

When talking does not convince the masses they call the army.

What a complete mess.

I want to know what you think about this:-

If Army is given complete right to eliminate terrorism from Pakistan then, can army remove it entirely from Pakistan in a year?

No, it will only suppress the terrorism. Just like in 1992, the operation went very well in Karachi and within 7 months, things were under control but then what happened? The politicians started to play their dirty games again and now Karachi's situation is even worst then what it was back in 1992 before the operation. We need to take all the stake holders on-board otherwise the peace will be short-lived.

I was not talking about Karachi but Pakistan. So what I understand from you is that, you are saying Army will eliminate it just like the way it did in 1992 from Karachi but politicians will again let this crap (terrorism) enter in Pakistan?

Frantic activities as life goes on

LAHORE: An Edhi worker pulls off a “piece of evidence” hanging from a barbed wire and puts it inside a plastic bag. Half an hour has passed and no one knows much about it, but the bomb blast has left the public and the police shaken and disturbed.

“We were on duty at the petrol station. When the blast took place, there was a deafening sound and a lot of smoke but we stayed here,” says a worker at a nearby filling station. A lot many who were there began running towards the main road near Radio Pakistan building.

A double-door van had caught fire but the Rescue 1122 has tried to hose it down. Now there is thick black smoke billowing out of the van. Eyewitnesses say a hefty man, wearing a black chador, was seen walking around the area.

They say he came from the side of the road which leads to the railway station. And senior police officials have already stated that a head has been found which is now in their custody. Presumably, he tried to enter the Police Lines but ended up blasting himself where he stood. Burnt cars, crashed windowpanes, and a concrete pole with a huge crack in it show that.

“Since four or five years we have been hearing of the police headquarters and the Police Lines being under threat,” says Imran Qadir, who is a resident of the area and an eyewitness. He is one of the people who have helped the blast victims. He looks worryingly at the crowd trying to approach the blast scene, even though it is surrounded by a yellow “Crime Scene” tape written on it.

“These people should not be here,” he says. “Another blast can always go off.” Every citizen it seems has the knowledge of what to do in case of a bomb blast.

The police have managed to push back the general public and have put up a purple tent so no vehicles can pass. On the opposite side of the crime scene, a carpet shop has lost all its windows. Everywhere blue tinted glass is scattered on the ground, and workers are trying to brush them aside.

A piece of glass crashes down all of a sudden and people jump in fear. There is splattered blood even across the road, and bits of human bodies lying in small puddles of rainwater. A shoe is seen lying nearby, its sole bloody.

Despite putting up barriers and crime scene tapes, though, forensic teams cannot be seen anywhere on the road. Instead workers of the FIF (Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation) - the social welfare wing of the banned JuD (Jamaatud Dawa) -- is picking up body pieces and collecting them in an ordinary plastic bag.

“We are doing our duty,” says one of the workers at the task. He opens the bag and shows its contents – blackened bits of brain, and what appear to be skull bones. “We intend to give this to the police once we are done,” he assures.

“I have tried to help the injured,” says one man. “Some were already dead, and some were in a very bad way so we helped by giving them water first then transporting them to the ambulances. One man died in my arms as I tried to help him up.” He looks grim, like he might never smile again.

A couple rushes down a narrow lane to their home behind the Police Lines building. “We were going to pick up our daughter from the school nearby and the blast happened right in front of my eyes. Windowpanes crashed down and we did not know what to do. I think my child must have been saved by seconds because she was almost there.”

“She is so scared and confused,” says the father. “She says she saw a police man fall down hard and started crying.”

A junior-level policeman, who had come from his duty at the Governor House, says there was already a threat this morning about the attackers entering Lahore. “They knew, and were mentally prepared. But what can be done, about a man who has come to die? If we cordon off this part of the city, he will blow himself up somewhere else.

The acrid smoke by now has been dispersed but the dense metallic smell of blood, pools of which have been spilled on the road, still hangs in the air. While many people are still standing by watching developments, most of the crowd has dispersed two hours later. Life must go on.

Pakistan needs something like AFSPA which we have in Kashmir & other troubled parts of the India

Please don't blame your Government. Its the menace Pakistan has self created for long time. This is what happens when You plan to burn the Neighbour's House. Your Forces always try to de-stablize the Neighbors , now your innocent Citizens are paying the Price. I am sure these "SCUMs" would be treated as Brothers if they would have been doing the same inside India.

On one hand you are telling us don't blame the government, but then state that "Pakistan self created"...... You just stated the obvious and Pakistan is working to get rid of this menace slowly.

I for one, as do many others don't treat these people as brothers, no matter where they are doing it.

Finally this isn't the time for point scoring.

Pakistan is in the verge of Self-Destruction due to its Self Proclaimed Army, who, never allowed Politics of their Country to get matured enough but time & again created the Military Coup which has done nothing Significant by only weaken the roots of this Country.

Pakistan isn't on the verge of anything, that is fantasy. Remember the 2012 and 2015 predictions? Pakistan is still here.

I can only say "Best of Luck" who are still there in Pakistan. Keep trying, you may stay alive!!!!

We need no such luck from you and the sarcasm isn't appreciated.
