Its already in use for years now atleast in punjab. We need harvesters for potato ...... Thats whrre the potential is. People are fed up with the manual labour and their attitude!

. .
Thousands more advanced alternatives avaliable all over the world. This is a crap infront of them. Kind of like Stone age.
they have to be imported and hit the already low dollar forex! what is so bad with supporting a local startup?

I am not an expert on agricultural machines. But do support homegrown initiatives!
Do do I.
Ideally everything should be made at home.
I am not an expert either. I can only say it is my dream to go into this field. For that I have been saving some money for a long time. I wanted to farm vanilla in pakistan under greenhouses. It may not come to frustration, or it maybe 20 or 30 years later or never. But so I remain interested and read all the modern farming methods.
And it pains me how badly informed people are. These so called nursery experts are illiterate in horticulture terms.
They don't know the basics. They have become businessman buying stuff from Thailand and selling in pakistan.
While in the world single person was operating farms worth of acres. Even setups that plant seeds in trays and then plant seedlings from trays in pots and then plants from pots to ground and then harvest.
Tomatoes, potatoes, wheat, rice etc has such technologies avaliable.
In pakistan decades old methods are used. And these rich farmers who owned lands don't focus on technology, water conservation etc. It is their business not passion. Labor s cheap, water is their fathers property.
There is silk industry.
Cashmere industry.
We can farm saffron, we can farm tea. We can farm chocolate in balochistan. We already produce sugar and milk. We can be biggest cocoa and chocolate producing country. We can atleast grow lentils at home. Everytime I eat lentil I feel ashamed that it is from Australia. We can produce corn oil, sunflower, soya bean oil to stop palmoil imports. We could become largest apple, plum, peach appricot producers. Have you seen prefect apples from australia in metro. Our verities can't even compare. We can become hub of pmegrnate and grapes in balochistan no. Little attention is given to mango because rich industrialist farm it. But even there we are not up to our full capacity. We can grow more in balochistan.
But this would not happen unless farmers sit down and expect government to do this. Government can never do this. We are 22 carore. Passionate people have to so this.
We must allow imports of technology and new machinary even subcidize it.
I know we should be encouraging our local stuff. But we cannot pass through that stage where we go to 2g and 3g and 4g and then 5g. You have to jump directly from 2g to 5g

We need to inculcate the following quote from Bill Gates within our people:

"If you were born poor it is not your fault, but if you die poor it is entirely your fault"

Our people are happy at repeating the same thing over and over again for decades without improvising and improving and getting ahead. It is a national trait. I know first hand a family that has a textile mill for three generations. The grandfather established the mill in the 60s during Ayub era to make cotton thread, he lived out his life and handed it over to his son, who continued the operation of the plant and now the grandson is managing the plant. Lo and behold for 60 years the plant is operating and for 60 years they have not branched out and made anything else other than cotton thread. :hitwall:
