Thank you for the thread sir. Really nice effort of putting all the information in one place and this way it will be easier to find for future references. However can you shed some light on the about highlighted part?
A fleet tanker with anti-submarine and anti-ship capabilities? this do not makes sense!! A fleet tankers fitted with anti-ship missiles and torpedo.
Anyways, what is the status of this fleet tanker? have this been launched or under-construction? The project started in 2013. It will be good to know what progress have been made.

EDIT: Ok this just struck me, this fleet tanker is to carry a helicopter, so may be the exaggerated the helicopter (that can be fitted with missile and torpedo as is the case with our existing navy helicopter fleet) carrying capability into the anti-ship and anti-submarine capability attributed to the tanker ship. This is not true but technically, cannot be denied altogether as well since it will be carrying a helicopter that can perform these duties. :)
A case of bad reporting creating hype

Dead Weight Tons or DWT of a marine vessel actually represents the weight of the water displaced when loaded up to ‘Plimsoll line’ which is the line up to which the ship can be safely submerged. In lay man’s terms it represents maximum load the ship is designed to carry. DWT is the standard term used to denote size of a sea going vessel.

Weight of the boat is normally called ‘Dry weight’ which is the actual weight without any cargo or fluids in the holds. However, dry weight is seldom used in the industry except when buying or selling the ship as it in an indication of the amount of steel used in its construction.

Besides the DWT, other specifications of a marine vessel naval, merchant or private yacht are; LOA (Length overall). Beam (maximum width), Draft (depth below the water line) and sometimes Air Draft, which is maximum height above the water line in case the vessel has to pass thru a bridge. Occasionally LOD or length on deck is also specified.

tankers have to defend themselves in this day and age. after all they will be prime targets for adversary submarines and aircraft to deny warships much needed fuel at high seas.

Why don't KSEW have stall at IDEAS? Can't we sell MPAC to other countries?
