What's new

Krishna Leela Temple Bangalore

And I support you in that.
You are free to collect donations from people to do that.

Meanwhile, let those who want to donate their money for building a Patel statue do that.

i cannot sit quietly when rs 2000 crore is wasted on some statue,,,no i can't

Anyone on this forum knows i have no religious bias,,none.
i was just answering on his question on whether i have seen ISCKON or not??i have seen it,even saw a movie inside the complex on its founder swami prabhupada or something like that, bought a english translated pocket gita too from the bookstore inside it,,,,ate a costly pastry too.

thats irrelevant to discussion,,,i hate to see people wasting money on such structures,,serve no purpose at all

It's relevant because I need you to realize that you went to a new Temple even though there were plenty of older ones around. What prompted you to go there 'a few times'? Why did you buy prasad there even though you knew you were being taken for a ride by the temple authorities? You might also have noticed the cleanliness in the place, in stark contrast with some of the other temples. The number of cleaners they employ is truly impressive. If you see all that as addendant economic activity, that is.

What rubbish u on about lol come to any ISKCON temple in UK we give free food to anyone those not matter what colour they are or what religion they come from.

Yes it is justified, Patel is a great national hero and the people of Gujarat want a statue of him.
I have also been to the ISKCON temple in Watford, they do loads of charity work.

While I agree to what you write, I think it should be limited to what Government spends on. The people and society have the right to an opinion, that however should be voiced on something that is a communal issue(the literal meaning of communal), not individual/private issues.

If the Government has declared something as legal, and I wish to spend my money there, I should not be subjected to the social pressure of have/have-nots about how I spend my money.

Don't people voice their opinions about clothing fashions, cars, cell phones, restaurants etc? Why should not be OK to give their opinion on communal issues as well? Why should communal issues be shielded from criticism?

Of course nobody should force you to go for dinner in restaurant A instead of B, but can't they write a horrible review of B, if they dislike the place? Similarly, don't people opine about gadgets all the time? Isn't reading and listening to opinions one of the tools we have to form an opinion or make a decision?

Similarly, if a religious person reads a very well written argument that donating to a school benefits people more than donating to a temple, and because of that s/he stops donating to temples and donates to schools instead, whats wrong in that? (The contrary is also true, if somebody persuades a person to donate to a temple instead of a school...)

In short, people should be free to opine, and people should be free to listen to those opinions or not.

Yeah plus they have a nice farm there, I help out in the kitchens often and we distribute the food to people after.

@Yeti @he-man Hey guys no need to use harsh words to each other. We all are free to express so better respect or refuse eachother's views withough going personal. At the end of the day Its just a discussion on forum.

if u want progress then u have to focus on science first...........do that first,,,if thats done u do whatever u want.

but science=progress.......i dare anyone oppose this

Exactly my point for a long time now. Let those who advance science worry about it and let those who advance religion worry about it. You do what you have to for yourself and trust others are competent enough to arrive at decisions that best suit them. How hard is this for you to understand?

u can see who started to teach me patriotism here.
i will not tolerate any person not living here to tell me whats right and wrong for my country

When I said communal, I said the literal meaning, not what it has come to mean in India. Communal is something that involves the community - like Government issues.

I said shield the private from forcible opinion. Everyone has a right to give their voice and views on communal issues.

sure,,,looks like i am totally powerless in changing anyone's perception anyways

my friend is an isckon follower,,,,i went with him.
i do it all the time...........been to countless churches and mosques too

I'm afraid you're one of the inadvertant contributors to ISKCON then. If you disagree with their focus and priorities, why are funding them? Better not go to religious centres and instead save and donate every year to a Science Centre or Institution.

i rarely go now,,,maybe it was 2-3 years back.
the point is u cannot refuse an old friend, can u??

and btw i am more interested in temples with historical importance, same goes with gurudwaras and mosques etc.
apart from these i have 0 interest

You might have a chance if you don't abuse others when you try to change their perception. Explain your POV rationally instead of calling them names.

religious fanatics cannot understand whats rationality

Well, 500 years from now these will have historic importance. None of the ancient temples had any historic importance when they were built.
