Krishna Leela Temple Bangalore

yes my problem is wastage of money,,,i couldn't care less if money was being wasted on a temple, gurudwara or church

that says a lot how much u are thinking in economic terms

Not everything boils down to economics lol there is a thing called culture do u know about this? people enjoy art, festivals why?
if it were up to people like you we would have no religious places of worship or statues of our heroes lol what a retarded country that would be.

In every country from Russia to UK there is statues of the national heroes such as Nelson why you think India would be different?

Dude I may not need those Jobs but there are millions who need. Not everyone is engineer, doctor or scientist.

but they can be if money is spent in opening say a computer academy,,,that was the whole point of this discussion

i have been to isckon temple, delhi a few times with my friend,,,its a totally corporate type temple with 5 star bakery inside the temple complex.
it rarely serves free langar etc.

as for pakistan are u serious??lol

Just curious, why exactly were you at the ISKCON temple? If you don't like it you should keep out.

You also mentioned that you're against creation of new temples, ISKCON or otherwise. Now you're claiming that ISKCON temples are run like a corporate house and hence are no good. First, firm up your stance.

As for Pakistan, you are again making an assumption that suits your preset beliefs.

Yes but you see, that's your opinion being an atheist. A religious person might feel that it is not a waste of money. Some people may think that going to the movies is a waste of time, but movie lovers will disagree. So in such cases, people should be free to decide what they spend their money on. As long as public money is not spent on such activities, it should be legal.

What you can do is to convince people through reason that they ought to spend their money on whatever you think is more beneficial. If you can change their minds on it, that would be great. But ultimately, whether spending on something is wasteful or not can only be decided by the person who's money it is.

Is the money private money? Is it by donations?
If the answer to those questions is Yes, then it is justified.

If the people didnt want it up there, they would not donate. Simple as that.

However, if you are a citizen of Gujarat, and find that your tax is being used for something you find unproductive, you are by all means right to protest against that decision. I would support you there.

It is not justified under any circumstances,,,none.
i would rather make free houses for poor people dying on roads than a stupid statue thats gonna serve 0 purpose than inflate our egos.

another colossal waste of money

Learn about culture first and taking pride on our national icon lol if it were up to people like you there would be no statues of anyone in India would a joke that would be

And I support you in that.
You are free to collect donations from people to do that.

Meanwhile, let those who want to donate their money for building a Patel statue do that.

Do you agree that everyone has access to good education in Western countries? Why is it then that countries like Norway, Sweden, Germany etc aren't full of doctors and engineers? Why do these countries also have Religious Academies and newer Religious Centres in construction? Why are there artists, painters, novelists etc in these Nations? Not enough Computer Centres, I guess.:coffee:

@he-man , The waste of money could be better attributed to the tons of money lost to corruption and government mismanagement. It is not for private organisations to fund the nation and its development. It is for government to do so with taxpayers money.

Go see what Russians think of their Motherland calls statue, most Russians I speak to adore it! and ask the people of Rio what they think of their Christ statue and if they would remove it.

I am against this typical Indian attitude that "I know best what others should do".
If we all just minded our own business, India would have been a far better place than it is.

And if tomorrow someone comes to me and starts giving me a lecture on how I should spend the money I have earned, I would probably call the cops for harassment.
Society changes only when people listen to other opinions. So if somebody wants to write his opinion that it is a waste of money, he should be free to do so. (Barging into your house and lecturing you is not kosher.) As long as they stick to opining, and not forcing you to spend your money as they see fit, it is OK. More than OK, it is only by exchange of ideas that we can form informed opinions.

To reiterate, nobody should force you on how to spend your money. But giving their opinion should not be a crime.

Leave it bro. No one is wrong here as everyone has their POV and all are right. But at the end of the day Its a private trust and they better know and free to invest where they want.
PS: If it was a govt. Organisation, you'd have all the rights to criticise them.

While I agree to what you write, I think it should be limited to what Government spends on. The people and society have the right to an opinion, that however should be voiced on something that is a communal issue(the literal meaning of communal), not individual/private issues.

If the Government has declared something as legal, and I wish to spend my money there, I should not be subjected to the social pressure of have/have-nots about how I spend my money.
