The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Energy Development Organisation on Wednesday released documents which contradicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s claim of having constructed over 350 small dams in the province to put an end to power outages.

During a rally held in KhwazaKhela in 2014, Khan claimed, “We have initiated a plan to construct 350 small dams in KP during our tenure.”

The KP government had pledged to construct 356 dams in the province according to an 18-month plan. In contrast, the KP energy report showed that the provincial government had failed to complete the project before this year’s general elections. Construction activities were ongoing on 114 dams and the authorities concerned have not yet started work on 40 proposed dams.

According to sources, the PTI government could not show any documentary evidence to support its claims. They further said that even if all 356 dams were constructed, they would only be able to produce 35 megawatts of electricity to the national grid since a majority of these dams could only produce 5KV to 50KV electricity.

It is important to mention here that a majority of these projects were initiated without conducted mandatory geological surveys of the area where the dams were being constructed.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Financial Officer Saeed Akhtar Chughtai, while talking to a private news channel, said, “Electricity produced from these dams would cost Rs 4.5 per unit tariff.” The PTI chief, on the other hand, had claimed that the provincial government would provide electricity to consumers on Rs 2 per unit.

Maryam social media team at it again? Why don't you post
articles about the 3 billion corruption of Nawaz family?
Why don't you post about other provinces?

As for the reply, here goes: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is spending more than fifteen billion rupees on construction of various hydro power projects.

A spokesman of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization told Radio Pakistan Peshawar Correspondent that two hundred and fifty hydropower projects have been completed, while work is underway on one hundred and six hydro power projects will be completed within next two months.

These projects are being constructed in Hazara and Malakand divisions which after completion will generate forty megawatt electricity.

Also it takes abit of time to make feasability reports and then construction
unlike the Orange line that is being built without even making a feasability
report.

Few weeks back Imran khan said that till now KPK has produced 78 megawatt electricity, and claimed to produce more 4000 megawats in coming future, so lets c if kpk govt is able to do this till 30th may 2018, so we can easily say that 4000 megawatts are still a claim until delivered on ground... here is the news source from 31st jan 2018

"PESHAWAR : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said on Wednesday that the provincial government generated 78 Mega Watt (MW) of electricity in contrast to claims of Punjab chief minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and added that projects to produce 4,000MW are under construction."

Can you also post articles about Nawaz families over 3 billion corruption.
Or are you only obsessed with KPK and PTI? Can you also tell us how much
electricity Mota Nawaja and Showbaz created intheir 30 years of power?

If their target was 350 but were only able to complete a good portion of it e.g. 300 without comprising safety and quality, ensuring that it is built on international standard and would last for a long time then their efforts are commendable.

At the end it not about quantity .

corruption in kpk is no.less than what we see in other provinces.
majority of PTI people in kpk are the most corrupt people.
KPOGCL is the most corrupt of all.
they took trainee tests in 2016 and no calls to the toppers for interview tell now.

can you ever criticize PTI?

Yes I can, PTI has come into power first time in KPK and even though
I think the work is slow paced but they are improving every institution.

KPK is the fastest growing economy in Pak with Punjab coming 2nd.
Education and Health budget has gone up and reforms being made.
Then you got the billion tree tsunami, the work is being done but they
are not doing what showbaz does roshan Pakistan on just advertisement.

KPK spends very less on advertisements compared to Nawaz/Showbaz.

1) Kp is the fastest growing economy among all four provinces in Pak.
2) Out of the top 10 districts for Education 9 are in KPK and 1 in Punjab.
Haripur came number 1.
3) Thousands of families have received sehatinsaf cards and get 5 lakh free
treatment.
4) Billion tree tsunami, In Punjab it is the other way around all the jungles
are getting chopped up by timber mafia.
5) depoliticised Police. Crime is coming down year by year.

These are some of the acheivements of first time Gov in 4 years
compare that with 30 years of PMLN. I would rather have a party that
spends billions on human development than to be wasted on advertisements
and nothing to show for it.

The reality of fastest growth in K-P

By: Dr Pervez Tahir

In a TV interview, Imran Khan boasted that K-P was the fastest growing economy in Pakistan. The claim was based on Dr Hafiz Pasha’s latest book. Apparently, the Khan had not read the book. That is why he attributed the achievement to the end of high level corruption, higher investment in the wake of peace ensured by better policing and resurgent tourism during the PTI government. According to the book, the province has registered an average annual growth of 5.2 per cent for the past 15 years. Growth was 5.4 per cent during “Maulana diesel’s” period, 4.9 per cent during the “corrupt” ANP’s regime and 5.1 per cent under the PTI government. The PTI has barely maintained the historical average. There is no difference here between the corrupt and the non-corrupt regimes. Growth, says the book, was mainly driven by remittances from abroad and other provinces, which comprise 20 per cent of the household income. Next in importance was the transport sector boosted by the Afghan transit trade and the Nato supply movement. None of this falls in the provincial policy domain. It is not clear whether Dr Pasha has treated Fata as part of the K-P economy or, like others, ignored it. A study done for the UNDP by Dr Nadia Tahir shows that the share of Fata in the national GDP is around 2 per cent. Foreign and domestic remittances, which according to Dr Pasha form a significant part of the K-P economy, are also the major source of livelihoods in Fata.

Whatever the sources of growth, the main point of the book is that the K-P growth was higher than all other provinces in the past 15 years. In the interview, the Khan could not hide his glee while pointing out that Dr Pasha’s wife is finance minister of the competition, Punjab. During the past four years, the book shows Punjab’s growth at 4.6 per cent compared to K-P’s 5.1 per cent. At the launch of “The Punjab Economic Report 2017” in December last year, “Senior Economist and Consultant Dr. Hafiz A. Pasha highlighted that Punjab was on track to achieving a growth rate of six per cent by the end of the year which would be the highest growth rate in eleven years”, (Business Recorder). The Punjab Report includes Dr Pasha as part of the core team. It shows “a growth rate of just over 5 per cent” for 2015-16. If we compare GDP growth per capita, based on the GDP estimates from the book and the latest population figures, Punjab’s 2.5 per cent is ahead of K-P’s 2.1 per cent.

The last Labour Force Survey relates to 2014-15 and the Household Integrated Survey to 2015-16. In the absence of these important sources of information, the last two years in the book could only be projected, not estimated. This is also why a recent study prepared at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry stopped at 2014-15. The starting year was chosen as 2010-11to capture the impact of devolution under the 18th amendment and the 7th NFC that fundamentally changed the provincial economies. The study estimated Punjab’s growth rate at 5 per cent per annum. Projecting it into 2016-17 will yield no less.

Let it be clear that the estimates of provincial GDPs are a completely private enterprise. All studies use the official national GDP estimates as the starting point, divide it into provincial shares under a certain set of assumptions for different sectors and come out with growth rates for the period covered. Different studies thus have different results.

Laugable.

1 : No numbers provided. Provide numbers to assess performance properly. E.g. If you increase your income from 10 to 20 then 100% improvement but if you increase your income from 1000 to 1200 the increase is only 20%. Who is better?
2: provide Source of information and the criteria. Provide education budget comparision/%. Provide spending per head
3: Copy of N league
4: Controversial. Allegation of currption
5: Evident by the cases in DI Khan and Kohat
