KP Assembly adopts resolution to create Hazara province


A resolution moved by the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for creating a new Hazara province was adopted with majority vote by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly, DawnNews reported on Friday.

Opposition MPAs belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) opposed the resolution calling it a conspiracy to divide the province.

Earlier, session of the KP Assembly commenced with Speaker Asad Qaiser in the chair. Sardar Idrees of PTI tabled the resolution which was subsequently adopted by the house by majority vote.

Criticising the move by the ruling PTI, ANP’s Parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was like a bouquet and his party opposes any attempt to divide it.

PPP MPA Nighat Orakzai said the demand for dividing the province was not in line with the current circumstances.

Meanwhile, provincial Health Minister Shaukat Yousufzai tabled another resolution to change the name of the province which was also adopted with majority vote. According to the resolution, the proposed name of the province is “Hazara Pakhtunkhwa.”

The house also adopted five more amendment bills including the one of that relating to local government.

It may not go well with some, but its a great decision. again hats off to PTI for not playing politics over provincialism, but doing the right thing when in power !!

good luck, btw hazara province first resolution was submitted by MQM in the NA in the previous govt, and MQM was also the first party which sumbitted bill for new provinces which never got passed

MQM got gaalum galoch for passing such resolutions and was labelled as traitors/ law breakers and those who were working for CIA/MOSSAD for dividing pakistan and to achieve their aim for separate mohajir province

There is no point in making further Provinces unless it can be shown convincingly that such a move will improve the administration and services to the Constituencies.

I hope the Punjab Wing of PTI wakes up from her slumber & initiates some pro-active policies here as well; I hope that a division of Punjab into 3-4 smaller Provinces is tabled by PTI !

Actually its quite easy because Punjabis themselves don't oppose a Division of Punjab because we don't believe in archaic concepts like 'Ancestral Homelands' or 'Ethno-Linguistic Nationalism' therefore you won't find much Opposition on the division of Punjab by Punjabis !

And if PTI plays her cards right & table the resolution it'll achieve one of two things: The creation of more Provinces out of Punjab because PML N won't oppose that move because they've already promised it numerous times so in a way PTI would call their bluff & PML N would have to follow through with their promise or they'd refuse to make smaller Provinces out of Punjab which means that PML N's Hypocrisy would be exposed & if PTI plays that right it means more votes for PTI in the coming elections especially from those in Punjab who do want more Provinces to be created out of Punjab !

I guess IK has now created a permanent vote bank for himself in the New province

Well, it's a province based on ethnic lines. I guess it can't truly harm anyone, but I'd much prefer all current provinces divided into smaller ones on administrative basis.
The example of Sweden comes to mind. (I think) they have both traditional (cultural) and modern (administrative) provinces.

No need...with a Hazara Province, possibly division of Baluchistan & the division of Punjab into at least 3 Provinces - We could be at a start & maybe in a few years time when people get comfortable with the idea & realize that we're all Pakistanis & Punjab isn't a Punjabi Province (in the ethnic sense) or KPK isn't a Pukhtoon Province or Sindh isn't a Sindhi Province but that Punjab belongs as much to a Pukhtoon as KPK belongs to a Sindhi - We might finally see a few more Provinces in Pakistan !

So what will be the boundaries of this "New Province"
Oh and mind you this will not sit well with the local populace here . Many have had enough of this Bias. Other Parties will now use The Ethnic card.
All in all nothing good will occur.
