Know Thy Enemy: Build up defense to thwart US provocation

What you want is an Asian version of what America evangelize. Not identical in every ways but only in the necessary ones. What you want is for all Asians to subordinate their national identities under a racialist -- not necessarily racist -- umbrella and apparently lead by China and JPN.

Yes, precisely.

  • It bears emphasizing ... that East Asia is, internally, a tremendously diverse region, as richly complicated as the West.
  • No two places in East Asia are altogether similar.
    • Even China, by itself, is a realm of many realms , yet with one spirit of collective unity, a trait common in EVERY SINGLE East Asian nation state.
  • Everywhere in premodern East Asia, including internally within China, we find shared "universal" East Asian core elements overlapping local cultural peculiarities—at multiple levels.
  • The broad "national" distinctions among China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam that seem so glaring today are only one level of local variation—tremendously important, to be sure, but also to some extent deliberately exaggerated for political purposes.
  • It is no great overstatement to say that the nations of East Asia, like all other nations everywhere, were semiconscious political creations, yet with the same goal of unity.
    • In fact, aside from alien interventionism -- East Asia has always yearned, in one way or another, to unify each other under one banner; tho methodological systems may have varied.

Thank you @TaiShang , if you are every interested in seminar works, one that i had a pleasure of taking part in: (tho i hope you can understand some Japanese, perhaps you can find academic access).

Your romanticism is an echo of the EU. Look at the EU today. The economic union is on the verge of disintegration, the peoples and their cultures are no less independent of each other, the politicians despise each other behind their respective embassy doors, and the list goes on. This is despite the fact that the Europeans for centuries intermarried, from high and low stations, their proximity to each other made cultures easily transportable, and in spite of the collective economy the union's military is on the cusp of being sub-par and is at high probability of being defeated by lone Russia.

Very well written, and an excellent objective appraisal of the situation, my friend @Lure ! Excellent, mate. Your post is like a breath of fresh air in this section --- as i have grown quite tired of the same rhetorics.

To just add a minor point of conjecture to your posting(s) here --- let me address some key and vital points in bold head for our friends (the readers):
  • China and the Philippines have never had a war nor a conflict
  • China and the Philippines, in ancient and modern history -- have always been trade partners and civilizational peers
  • China's contribution to Philippine Colonial History in terms of national thought and development was through the genesis of Filipino patriots , many of whom were actually of Chinese ancestry (without China's existence or domestic entrenchment in Philippines, these patriots would have never been -- ergo, Filipno National Hero , Dr. Jose P. Rizal -- actually is a Chinese Huaren).
  • The Philippines most brilliant and successful entrepreneurs are actually Filipino-Chinese, in fact most of the Billionaires in the Philippines are Chinese Huaren.
This irrational perpetuation of 'fear' of China is actually not new. The Spanish , in trying to consolidate their control of the Philippines during the colonial epoch , had implemented draconian laws that tried to exclude and isolate and repress the Chinese immigration in the Philippines, ergo, anti-Sangley Laws. The Spanish perpetuated racial stereotypes of Chinese as being subvertists, which had led to Filipno native people to develop an anti-Chinese perception, artificially. I suppose the Americans, in their necessitization of controlling the Philippines , have utilized diplomatic and political encouragment to draw upon that historical anti-Chinese notion in the Philippines, which was artificially created by another western imperialist interventionist power, Spain.

Man all good point with one exception we fought china in the korean war and won pitched battles against them

It would be a good idea if the Philippines will not join any form surpanational entity other than ASEAN.

Considering that some Asians see us Filipinos as "not Asian" despite being geographically in Asia and that our culture is more in line with Latin America (which would also reject such notion because we are in another continent), it is better to only establish economic relations, but not becoming a member.

Beside, we might end up in an economic disadvantage in the future.

I wonder, deep in their mind, whether the Japanese and Korean elites simply wish to wait for China to gain strength to remove the US from the region in one way or another and thus open the room for these two countries to gain independent status as normal polities.

Talking about free-riding, LOL...

@Nihonjin1051
Everyone just hoping we grow strong to liberate Asia. The issue with people and the US is that any form of Northeast Union meant the demise of the US hegemony. That is not the case. They can still police the world. They can still have friendly relation with the newly form Northeast Union. The only different is they can't force their foreign policy upon the throat of the newly form Northeast Union, through economic coercion or military matter. That's why i'm all for this union only if the US gtfo.

What Americans are doing today is just the repetition of the Huns did during Han dynasty : violate our boundary and pillage and think they can get away with impunity. Any Chinese know Han vs Hun history will have a good understanding on how we should deal with Americans: be patient and fight when we're ready, we can wait 100 years if needed.

I think American now is try act like Roman empire.

Philippines should bolster a practical minded extrahemispherical cultural politic. Engage also in the Latin League and bolster trade with Latin World. Philippines can maintain relations with ASEAN and East Asia with Latin League. Focus in equidistant praxis policies would be advantageous. Don't limit yourself to ... Well you know what.

Eventually, however, after the infancy years, a NEA state will want to project and exult itself unto the world. NEA will be like a Rome , and US will be Carthage; it will be crushed in order for Great East Asia to continue with progressive oriented Global machinations.

The Dragon shall purify the Eagle in its thunderous wake....and Heaven shall delight in this ...ascendancy ....

What we worry is that we may end up making an economic deal with an economic bloc where we Filipinos are at an economic disadvantage and that we are to lose more than gain anything, be it America or China-les blocs.

On the cultural aspect, even though many modern nation-states in this part of the world were once colonies of European empires and even the US, only us Filipinos have the most "westernized" culture to the point that some people mistake us as Hispanics as our culture (due to Spain and Roman Catholic Church) resembles those of the nation states in Central and South America.

The only place in the Philippines where you can find "Asian" culture is the Muslim Mindanao region, which is similar to Malay culture of Malaysia and Indonesia. Another place is the enclave of Tsinoys in the Philippines, which is mostly Hokkien culture if I recall. The rest are "too Western" in the eyes of other people.

The only reason why America is giving leeway to Japanese constitutional changes because it believes and perceives China as a threat to its domination in the Pacific. Hence it is trying to coax Japan to make constitutional changes to (by the way the one who wrote post war Japanese constitution were the Americans, lol, LOL) be able to put a check to China. So , indirectly , China is actually aiding Japan to gradually free itself of Washingtonian domination. Eventually we would hope to see their removal from Okinawa.

This will take time, of course. Tokyo must be careful in not being too pro-Beijing as this would enrage Washington and who knows what they might do with devious intent to undermine Tokyo's interest --- under fit of rage.

I think China's leadership understands this. Hence, the purpose is never to antagonize Japan/Korea but in fact encourage to focus on areas of cooperation while simply shelve disputes. There will be fluctuations due to conjectural developments such as force deployments and moves by the US in Japan and Korea, but, the overall structure will involve a deeper cooperation overtime.

On this, the intelligentsia of the three historical neighbors need to work consciously to create a Northeast Asian political discourse.

I really appreciate the civilised and graceful discussion by both of you more credit to @Nihonjin1051 for smartly avoiding some comments by other members.
its a guide for everyone to see how to present yourself on a forum.
as a Pakistani, let me say this
we feel proud that our platform is used by both of you and secondly there is much to learn for us abut the south china sea conflict directly from the people of the nations involved .not a Westernised glossed version.

I think American now is try act like Roman empire.
Americans are an empire. they dont try to act. look at the political and military map.
this empire is war driven and seems to seek new conflicts and standby enemies after dealing with their current enemy. Russian and Chinese cooperation is a counter balance but it goes without saying that Americans have the upper hand on the military side and have support from countries that are sold to American version of south china sea conflict

this is not a morality comment just stating a matter of fact.

Exactly, the precondition for enabling a NEA union is to reduce the US chokehold on our region.

The only conceivable way to reduce the US chokehold is for China to further grow in influence and capacity. Japan and Korea are unable to do that on their own, realistically speaking. Not that certain segments on all levels of society want the US to be surgically removed like an undesired tumor, but, they at this moment, appear to be powerless. Even at the highest office, Mr. Hatoyama failed to deliver 5% of what he had promised and was forced to step down prematurely.

Eventually, however, after the infancy years, a NEA state will want to project and exult itself unto the world. NEA will be like a Rome , and US will be Carthage; it will be crushed in order for Great East Asia to continue with progressive oriented Global machinations.

I believe that China and its powerful neighbors in NEA need to continue with their emphasis on a developmentalist agenda. On this, Japan also needs to further decouple from securitized regional politics as a bad copy of archaic US global discourse.

We need to demonstrate that development is the best form of governance and the greatest equalizer; that is democracy in its true sense. This way, people will see better the difference between developmentalist and securitized democracy.
