Kishanganga project expected to meet 2016 deadline

What India says is that we will divert the Neelum river to Jhelum River, essentially to use Jhelum River for boat transportation. The water will fall into Jhelum River as Neelum also joins Jhelum at a point inside Pakistan. It will create problems for the area which is between the point where Neelum enters Pakistan and subsequently joins Jhelum. Indians also want to fill the lake at the head of Wullar Barrage, which is also controversial.

Surprisingly, according to an Indian electricity board or something study done probably in 90s, they clearly said that Kishanganga Project is not feasible. Still the Indians are going for it and their intention is certainly not to produce electricity etc, but to stop water entering Pakistan as per IWT. They are in violation and their intent is very very clear.

But water ultimately go inside Pakistan. So how are you giving contradictory comments.

India did gave option to GOP to develop Heydro electric project and take care of ecology ogf the indus basin(if im not wrong) but GoP being Gop rejected it in back door CBMs.

actually what india suggested is that water will fill up the wullar lake. which feeds from jhelum india wanted to have the gated exit points for navigation.As for Hydro electric plants is not being feasible is pure stupidity.There are 1000 such reports on every HEP projects in india from various ministries.they have to weigh the pro and cons of it.Even narmada was opposed for decades but after completion it did bring green revolution in arid gujarat and southern rajasthan.

Its just pakistani tantrums like young kid ....like if we cant do it for lack of our inability money etc we wont allow to do it type nonsense. otherwise there is no IWT fight .its just created by pak to hide there in competence from the public and put every blame on india after all elites there need an external enemy to rule the gulible public.In past it was india now it is usa india.

pakistan may not produce 1mw its not the matter imprtant is treaty and law .i can see pakistan appeal india reduce it 60% again pakistan appeal court ordered to stop it thats it .

Unlikely that Pakistan will win at the Court. It has so far failed every time it has appealed.

It's just a temporary stay order, but a very weird one - it does not stop India from any construction activities - as if the order will pass within the next couple of years.

“The ruling stated that India “could proceed with the construction of the sub-surface foundations” of the dam, “erect temporary cofferdams and operate the by-pass tunnel it has said to have completed”, “temporarily dry out the riverbed of the Kishanganga-Neelum at the Gurez valley” and “excavate the riverbed”.

“India can ‘continue with all works’ related to the Kishanganga hydro-electric project in Jammu and Kashmir except any permanent work on the riverbed that may inhibit restoration of the river’s full flow,” the paper quoted ICA’s ruling as implying. Quoting the ruling, The Hindu said: “While proceedings continued at the Court, it “is open to India to continue with all works relating to the Kishanganga Hydro-Electric Project”.

Court has not ordered to stop anything. Its temporary. And frankly if you think INdia is going to waste 100s of crores because some gora judge in Switzerland orders, you are mistaken. Kishanganga project is going live whether CoA or Pakistan likes it or not.

Well frankly it doesnt matter whether Pakistan wins or not. Water either way flows through India and there is nothing Pakistan can do if India persists with the project.
