I may never be a Chinese.
But you are wrong to say Singaporean Chinese cannot give up their Singapore citizenship and return to China.
I know many who have done that and who initially regretted but are now quite happy with their decision.
Singaporeans born here but whose parents have returned to China can apply to go back.
I also know of some Indonesians who have gone back to China.

Singapore is 5 million strong, is multi-cultural and multi-racial, how can it be like China.
In your dreams only will China treat us as equals, but then some of us would rate themselves as superior to them.
It also doesn't help that some Chinese nationals who come here are either very rich or politically connected and behave arrogantly.

Terms like "that Indian", "that Malay", "that Chinese" are common.
Each group will speak their language or dialects within their groups and use English between the races.
This is not a melting pot, there is very little mixing but don't mean the various races cannot work together.
We like it this way, during Chinese holidays, the others will work, and vice versa.
