'Keep out!': China sent 6 warnings to a US Navy plane, but the US didn't back down

Last we checked, VN did not depend on foreign assistance to beat China in that little border spat.
Vietnamese capabilities are around that of the East Asians.
Therefore not likely to be pushovers like the Indians in 1962.
But to say that Vietnam beat China is overstating the facts.

" To date, neither Hanoi nor Beijing has disclosed the exact details of the border agreement or a new official map. In a single interview with state media, a Vietnamese deputy foreign minister responsible for the negotiations downplayed Vietnam’s loss of major cultural landmarks, including the Ai Nam gate and the Ban Gioc waterfall.
He rejected accusations on blogs and overseas websites that his government ceded territory by arguing that the government managed to keep most of the Tuc Lam River bank - despite the fact that according to historical maps the entire area had once belonged to Vietnam. "

The Chinese implemented an effective "scorched-earth policy" while retreating back to China. They caused extensive damage to the Vietnamese countryside and infrastructure, through destruction of Vietnamese villages, roads, and railroads.
Border skirmishes continued throughout the 1980s, including a significant skirmish in April of 1984; this saw the first use of the Type 81 Assault Rifle by the Chinese.

In 1999, after many years of negotiations, China and Vietnam signed a border pact, though the line of demarcation remained secret[6]. There was a very slight adjustment of the land border at this time, resulting in land being ceded to China.

Vietnam ceded land to China to conclude the border war.
If that is beat, then it is certainly not desirable.
.

When was this? Time and year? The last time was in 1988 spratlys spat and Vietnam got creamed.

If you're talking about the Sino - Vietnam War. You had to depend on the Soviet and had their backing but sadly they didn't come to your rescue.

Don't be fooled by him. In 1979, it was Vietnam that got spanked. All Chinese objectives were achieved except Vietnam didn't pull out of Cambodia. China even gained Nam Quan gate and border areas in Cao Bang.

I know that bro. But I didn't get into detail. I was waiting for him to make a mistake.

I finished reading this book.

Up to the day Vietnam refused to release the official Vietnamese killed.

Vietnam was being tough guy hiding behind USSR. WHEN they collapsed the viets were begging for another sugar papa.

The actual war lasted lasted until 1990 before reconciling with Vietnam. Vietnam ceded territories to China. During the 80s the army still had skirmishes along the border. It was a training ground for PLA troops.

Viet soldiers would sneak up the mountain along hoping to take over the peak. PLA already established defense there. PLA veterans said the Vietnamese soldiers would launch raids and try to take over the hill top but we're annihilated. Before ascending up, Chinese troops can see the Vietnamese soldiers looking back their home, kowtow and went up the hill to their death.
@nature is

All Chinese objectives were achieved. Only reason Viet keep saying China lost was some objectives took longer than expected to achieve.

No, it is not.

China invaded VN, so of course VN would suffer the higher amount of damages. But battles are not fought against inanimate objects. You destroyed a bridge? Fine. But that does not mean the opposition army is no longer a threat. That is where you and the Chinese on this forum do not understand. Military historians and analysts, many of them themselves are veterans, wrote off the PLA as a combat force in that brief border war between VN and China. That defeat heavily contributed to the reform the PLA is going thru today.

A Nation's Shame: Japanese-American Internment in WWII
The reality of people rounded up and placed in camps because of their ethnicity is a blot on America's past — and a warning for its future.

This is one out of numerous reports of similar sentiment from Americans themselves.
