Keen to develop good ties with India but no compromise on sovereignty: Army Chief

We have not suggest any measure that hurts dignity or sovereignty of Pakistan. Anyway this is a positive statement from Hawkish general who always talk of war.
And what else can you expect from a dedicated and brave soldier who sees enemy trying to wage war. Its tit for tat.

I will be waiting for Civil Supremacist self righteous Indian commenting why COAS is commenting on Foreign Policy. Well our COAS does that and we the people of Pakistan have no qualms over it in present situation so get over it.

Now focusing on the issue I think the realization will soon dawn upon India that Pakistan is here to stay and stand tall.
The hangover of dream of imploding Pakistan will not last long. India will have two options either continue on path of spending billions in trying to undermine Pakistan which will result Pakistan firmly shifting it's stance to more Pro China. The policy of containing China is going to result in more Chinese investment in Pakistan specially the Navy. Moreover the Russian-Indo relationship will also suffer though not considerably ,depending on how much India arches towards US rather than the dynamics of emerging Russia-Pak relations. The result will be continuous de stabilization in this region with myopic policies causing considerable losses in development to the whole region.

The other path for India is to embrace multilateral-ism and joint development of this whole geographical area. Russia, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, CARS, Afghanistan and Turkey can do wonders if petty differences are set aside for collective development. India can shun the regional games and proxy wars in favour of a Euroasia corridor uplift. In order to achieve this it is pertinent that Pak-In idia resolve Kashmir issue. The initial steps as advocated by NS in UN address is the best way to move forward. Raising the chant of cross border terrorism and LeT is getting to be monotonous and more of an excuse to avoid meaningful exchanges cross border violence emanating from Pakistan is not near enough to what India has been churning in Pakistan since last fourteen years. No one is getting fooled by this jargon anymore.

India holds the key to what the future in this region will be. A region riddled with never ending conflicts or a developing booming region with happy and prosperous people.

How is good ties with India a compromise on Pakistan sovereignty?

This happens always when there is a large country surrounded by smaller neighbors. In east Asia most of the Chinese neighbors feel the same. However, in case of south Asia, only Pakistan feel uneasy with India

visit point 3 of our PM speech

"Pakistan and India reaffirm that they will not resort to threat of force under any circumstances.

that is what we meant by no compromise of sovereignty.

you can't play friends with someone who violates LoC ceasefire and speaks of cold start and what not.

What the hell? He gave peace process 4 steps. What was that for? To sell Candy to India? Do you ever find yourself in a positive situation or you are just too negative in life? RS's statement is what he was told to say after NS delivered his message as that has all the globe talking maturity from Pakistan's end. And the ball is now in India's court.

This should ALSO give a lesson to the Pakistanis who think the Military is running the country. They are not, its NS's direction and diplomacy. He wants peace with India and Army has bought into his idea and understand he economic benefits. There is a reason for RS's statement and its by the civilian diplomacy!!!

Stop showing and over glorifying your generals. They are great people but they aren't diplomats. They are the generals. Now in RS's case, he's bought into NS
You are showing unnecessary desperation. You misinterpreted my message.

He said that Pakistan wishes to have improved ties with India including all other neighbouring countries but no compromise will be made on dignity and sovereignty.
Sharif should first ask himself why Pakistan has frosty relations with its neighbors? The answer is clear. He needs a course correction.

Secondly, what does he mean by 'no compromise will be made on Pakistan's dignity and sovereignty'? How is India lowering the dignity and sovereignty of Pakistan?

The boss has spoken.. Nawaz Sharif can keep pretending as if he is the main man Pakistan! :big_boss:
Well RS can not do what he is doing without the backing of NS. Even reluctant at times but it is clear if NS decides to stamp his total authority, he will not come out as a loser rather a victor whatever the consequence. I respect his pro Pakistan approach, he takes the blame of playing second to RS and still figures out how to complement the civil-military understanding.

Its not just Pakistan, all the South Asian states are apprehensive of Indian hegemonic designs. Indians have managed to delude them selves into believing that they can control South Asia as a result all the South Asian states are warming up-to China to counter balance India.
Which world are you living in bro? Your arguments are both silly and laughable.

. . .
What happens if another Kargil happens, and Pakistan sends 'irregulars' into Indian Kashmir? Should India resort to force? What would you do if you were India?

well you may ask for sureties on such issues. or ask a third party to guarantee Kargil type incursion doesn't happen .

but that would actually lead to progress happening in talks and to be honest India is not willing currently.
