Kazakhstan protests

"CSTO troops will leave the country within 10 days at the latest," Tokayev said.

"Until Russia stabilizes the situation in Kazakhstan, its troops will not leave Kazakhstan," the Russian defense ministry said.

Russia still continues to send armored troops to the region.

Whoever can say that Russia would not have intervened if Tokayev had not called the CSTO, I can say that they looks at the world through pink-colored glasses.

Kazakhstan's territory is too large and its population is too small. The southern territory originally belonged to the historical Kara Khan dynasty, which is a country dominated by Uighurs. Later, it was robbed by the Russians and left to the Kazaks. I think Kazakhstan occupies too much territory of Turkic brothers. Kazakhstan should divide the south to Uighurs for independent statehood, so that China can allow Uighurs to legally immigrate to their own country.
I think it has also base of the Russian space program and rocket launching test ground.

CSTO defense ministers on January 13 to set schedule for troops pullout from Kazakhstan
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has requested that the CSTO ends its peacekeeping mission from Thursday
MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. The CSTO on Wednesday said its Council of Defense Ministers will convene for a video call on January 13 to determine the schedule for the withdrawal of the group’s peacekeeping forces from Kazakhstan.

His been misquouted by some publications on purpose but the Russian defense minister didn't put it that way..

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the 2,500 Russian-led soldiers would “continue their mission until the situation fully stabilizes” but that it would be “up to the Kazakh leadership” to decide when that happens''

He technically didn't contradict Tokayev just many out there apparently seeking otherwise

Russian forces are there in Kazakhstan with the same measure and capacity that the US forces are in Japan and South Korea. In fact, even more than that since Kazakhstan and Russia have a history together as one nation, both as an empire and USSR.

Any Central Asian country undergoing hell like this would have invited Russia to help them.

How is your annoying screeching here "holding China to account"? Newsflash: China is too powerful to hold to account.

There is speculations that the ISIS were shipped from Afghanistan to spearhead the coup. These ISIS were under the command of Nazabayev. But now, Tokayev has uprooted all these NED, ISIS, MI6, Israel, Turkey asset in Kazakhstan.

If the coup is successful, the world will see rapid Islamization of Kazakhstan.

Belarusian President Lukashenko:

“Uzbekistan should learn from what happened in Kazakhstan”

President of Uzbekistan Mirzoyayev replied to President of Belarus Lukashenko:

“We have the power and potential to respond to any threat”

Everyone should know their limits!

We are done for with them. The country is folding in two. Anyways, since a lot of projects with them were signed in local currency upon their incessant demands, the Chinese side will only get less than 1/3 - 1/2 of original reward now. All I knew say now, it's bye bye to the country. The mode of operation now is asset recovery, and GTFOASAP.
Uranium.

In 2020 Kazakhstan produced the largest share of uranium from mines (41% of world supply), followed by Australia (13%) and Canada (8%). Kazatomprom was set up in 1997, it controls all uranium exploration and mining as well as other nuclear-related activities, including imports and exports of nuclear materials. China General Nuclear Corp (CGN) and Kazatomprom has begun cooperation since 2006 on uranium development and trade, and nuclear fuel fabrication was initiated in 2006. The two have a uranium mining joint venture, a nuclear fuel plant. More than 55% of Kazakh uranium is shipped to China.

Let's not underestimate the complexity of this decade old relationship built on uranium (and pipelines for oil/gas), numerous multinational power players be it the Japanese (Itochu Corp), French (Areva Corp) or even IAEA (they are not as "independent" as people might think) always want a piece of the action. That's why I'm glad to see the unrest is finally settled, cos it's about the uranium, the hub under construction along China-Kazakh border will bring this relationship to the next level.
