You are so wrong when you say Any military agency is not under government control, that If ISI or MI take unilateral action in Karachi, then all the political parties will start crying Army has went rouge and doing action without the consent of Federal or Provincial government. And if they ask Federal or Provincial government, they will ask them to provide only Intelligence and let the Local law enforcement agencies to do the actual work on ground. Which means LEA will only act when Their civilian masters want them to be.

Let's take example of last month "ALTAF BHAI KI SHIKAYAT" regarding IB and FIA. on which Zardari promised to look in to matter which was obivously an hypocrite statment since IB and FIA can't send reports to British goverment without the consent of Zardari


So in short the Inept politicans and their foul cry will damage PAK ARMY if ISI or MI is involved without government consent and government has clearly said they don't want ARMY to be involved in Karachi. And for the rest of Civilian intel agencies or local LEA, their hands are tied by the inept and corrupt civilian government.

KARACHI: A suspected target killer was arrested by the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) in a raid in the Lines Area here, Geo News reported.

SSP SIU, Raja Umar Khattab said that one suspected target killer has been arrested, who has confessed to have targeted and slaughtered five persons with sharp instruments and dumped the mutilated bodies in different areas of the city. The arrested accused seemingly young identified himself as Sehroze son of Yusuf. However, the motive behind the series of brutal killings still remains a mystery.

Raja Umar Khattab said that one body packed in a TV cardboard box was recovered from a one roomed rented house at sector 5-B North Karachi on information extracted from the accused. The slaughtered victim has been identified as Iftikhar Bhatti, who was kidnapped and slain.

The arrested target killer said that he was not associated with any gang, but confessed having three/four accomplices of whom two were named Abid and Kamran.

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and former Karachi Nazim, Mustafa Kamal addressed a press conference at the MQM headquarters nine-zero, in Azizabad Karachi where he lashed out against former Sindh senior minister’s Zulfiqar Mirza’s allegations against the MQM.
Kamal called for the Chief Justice of Pakistan to conduct an inquiry into the claims made by Zulfiqar Mirza of issuing over 300,000 arms licences and whether all of these licences were issued in accordance with law and not to raise a private army for Mirza.
He said that the MQM had chosen to remain silent over allegations against it over the past week since it did not wish to get embroiled in a war of words.
He also laid allegations of an ongoing slant in the media against the MQM. He said that a letter, purportedly written by MQM chief Altaf Hussain to Tony Blair where he had agreed to break up Pakistan, was being used as proof to paint MQM in a negative light.
Furthermore, Kamal said that the media had been playing up the viewpoints put forward by Zulfiqar Mirza. Media anchors were deliberately holding a media trial of the MQM in their programs, he said.
Kamal also blamed the media for ignoring the ISI and Army confessions of falsely blaming the MQM for harboring anti-state elements which had led operations against the MQM in 1992.
Target killings
Responding to the allegations by Zulfiqar Mirza of MQM-led target killing in Karachi, Kamal said that it was not the MQM who had started the indiscriminate murder of Mohajirs in Hyderabad, at Katti Pahari and Shershah.
He pointed out that hundreds of people had been abducted around Lyari on the basis of their Urdu speaking ethnicity. These people were then tortured, killed, and their cut up bodies stuffed in gunny bags.
Kamal also called into question the video testimony of Ajmal Pahari. The former mayor questioned why Pahari was the only target killer found by the intelligence agencies. Kamal also claimed that Pahari had confessed under torture, hence his testimony could not be believed.
“Anyone given under a JIT would have confessed to plotting the 9/11 attacks within two hours. Pahari would even confess to all those crimes he did not commit under torture, anyone would,” Kamal said.
He also questioned why there had been no suo motu notice of the killings in 1992 when 15,000 Mohajirs had been killed.
Answering the allegations placed on the MQM by PPP leader, Lashkari Raisani, Kamal asked why Raisani was overlooking the fact that criminals rained bullets for four days at Katti Pahari, and when culprits forced passengers off a bus in Benaras and shot dead 14 people.
Kamal also blamed the government for not giving Rangers orders sooner to move into the affected areas of Katti Pahari and confronting criminals.

Suo Motu on Karachi killings

Kamal said that MQM would fully support and facilitate the suo motu investigations into the Karachi killings.
He also urged the media to refrain from issuing judgments till the court had come to a decision.

Stealing NATO containers

Rebutting allegations about MQM stealing NATO supplies, Mustafa Kamal questioned what motive the party would have to do that.
He also posed a question to Zulfiqar Mirza regarding FIRs registered against the MQM for raiding NATO containers.

Media trial being conducted against us: MQM


KARACHI: The MQM has rejected allegations made against them by former Sindh home minister Zulfiqar Mirza and said that a media trial was being conducted against their party.

Addressing the media at MQM headquarters at Nine Zero, MQM leader Mustaf Kamal said that accusations being levelled against their party are baseless and are a conspiracy.

Mustafa Kamal said that false accusations such as the Jinnahpur conspiracy was also made against the MQM in 1992 which resulted in an army operation that killed thousands of innocent people in extra-judicial killings.

He also rejected the charge made against MQM Chief Altaf Hussain by Zulfiqar Mirza, that his party had agreed to help the United States to break up Pakistan.

Mustafa Kamal said that the MQM is a democratic party and that the people of Karachi have given them a mandate whenever elections have been held. He also said that the MQM has always condemned terrorism and extremism in Pakistan.

The MQM leader said that their workers have been repeatedly targeted and that at least 29 MQM have gone missing in the recent upsurge in violence in Karachi.

Suo motu: Sindh govt given 2 days to appoint ATC judges

KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Tuesday ordered the Sindh government to appoint judges for vacant Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATC) within two days.

The court, during the suo motu hearing on Karachi violence, had also summoned the law secretary on the appointment of judges for Anti-Terrorism Courts in Karachi. Due to the non-availability of the law secretary, the additional home and law secretaries came to the court and informed the bench that the government had no reservations on the appointment of judges on the recommendations of the chief justice.

The chief justice, who was heading the five-member bench, said the government should fill the vacancies within two days and the statements of the additional secretaries will be put on record.

Today’s hearing began with the Attorney General informing the court that the torture videos contained disturbing visuals and should not be shown in public. He said that the videos should be shown in private to the larger bench.

ANP men involved in Kemari bus burning: Police

The chief justice was briefed by the relevant Superintendent of Police (SP) on the bus burning incident which resulted in the death of six people on August 12.

The police informed the court that two people had been arrested in the case and weapons had also been recovered. Khanzada and Muhammad Shafi had been arrested from the crime scene and had told the police Ramazan, Jadoon, Afzak, Saleem were also involved in the incident. The police said the two men had given their statements and had said they belonged to the Awami National Party (ANP) Kemari Unit and had carried out the attack to make the party’s August 13 strike successful.

The bench asked the attorney general why there had been no response from the government when two groups had been fighting at Kati Pahari for four days, and that there had been a cry to deploy the army but Rangers and Police were nowhere to be found.

It also questioned what the government had been doing for the last three years and why information was being released now, and that it was like a tap the government kept turning on and off.

The chief justice questioned Inspector General of Police (IG) Sindh Wajid Durrani on the First Information Report (FIR) of the Chakra Goth incident.

Durrani accepted that the accused in the attack on the police, Kamran and Sohail, had not been nominated in the FIR. Justice Chaudhry asked why a proper FIR is not filed and evidence not collected so that the culprits can be tried and punished.

‘Violence in Karachi political, not ethnic’

The chief justice said that ANP counsel Iftikhar Gilani was right and that violence in the city was not ethnic but political. He said people like Ajmal Pahari were members of militants groups and questioned why action had not been taken against them.

Justice Ghulam Rabbani said the JIT reports were substantial evidence and that police should have taken action based on the reports. He said that Pakistan came in being on the name of Islam and the message of the religion was peace, but there was no peace in the country at the moment.

He also said the police had failed to bring evidence to the court.

“I was reading the material presented to the court at night and it was an eye opener for me,” said the chief justice.

The chief justice remarked that all assemblies and the senate were functioning in the country and incidents of violence should not occur in a democracy.

He said a decision needed to be taken and questioned the attorney general if he wanted to save the country or the government.

The chief justice said Karachi was a mini-Pakistan and it was a matter of serious concern if the citizens were not being protected. He said no one should be above the law and all those involved in the violence should be punished.
