Death toll climbs to 11 in Karachi mayhem

KARACHI: The death toll in Karachi violence has increased to eleven who were killed in firing and torture incidents since midnight while four others are injured, Geo News reported Friday. The situation in the old city area is still tense.
According to police, body of a man identified as Sagar was found from New Karachi sector 11-G area of Karachi while two more bodies were found in a gunnysack from Khamosh Colony in Gulbahar area.
Three bullet-riddled bodies were found from Bakraperi area of Lyari and Kharadar Jamatkhana in Baghdai area ahead of fast. All these victims are not yet identified who were killed after being kidnapped.
Two men were gunned down in Gulshan-e-Iqbal no.3 and 5 who were identified as Mohammad Sharif Gabool and Hosh Mohammad while Mobin Ahmed was shot dead in PIB Colony and two others sustained injuries.
In Sheerin Jinnah Colony, Anwar Khan and Shehryar Khan succumbed to injuries in hospital.
On Wednesday, 16 people lost their lives while on Thursday, 36 people were killed and their bodies were found from Lyari, Baldia Town, Shershah, Saeedabad, Pak Colony, Manghopir and other areas who were killed after being kidnapped.
According to police, a written message was also found from the gunny bags with bodies inscribed with slogans of 'Peace or war or more bodies'.
Some unknown men opened fire in Landhi Sherpao Colony and Kharadar area right before Aftaar time.
Police and Rangers conducted a combined operation after violent exchange of fire between two groups in Godhra area and arrested several people. Additional forces have also been deployed owing to tense situation in the area.
The fresh spate of violence started on Wednesday with killing of former MNA along with 15 others.
