KARACHI: A suspected militant belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, who was allegedly involved in a bomb attack on a Muttahida Qaumi Movement election office, was killed in an encounter in Orangi Town in which two policemen and a passerby also suffered injuries, police officials said.

Police took action after their Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) received a tip-off about the presence of militants named Mohammad Khan, Lucky Marwat, Naimat, Shera and Matiullah at a dera (guesthouse) in Mianwali Colony of Orangi Town in the jurisdiction of the Pirabad police station.

As the police encircled the guesthouse, the suspects opened fire on them, wounding two policemen and a passerby. Police retaliated and in the exchange of fire, a suspect, Mohammad Khan, who owned the dera, was killed and his accomplice Naimat was held after he fell injured while the others escaped, said the CTD Intelligence Wing SSP Amir Farooqi.

The officer said that the wounded policemen, Sajid and Shahzad, were admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital, where their condition was stated to be out of danger. The passerby, Mujeeb, received minor wounds in a hand and was discharged from the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital after first aid.

The SSP believed that Mohammad Khan belonged to the TTP (Abid Muchhar group) and was involved in a motorcycle bomb attack on the MQM’s election office in Nusrat Bhutto Colony in North Nazimabad on April 26, 2013.

He had fitted explosive material in the bike and parked it outside a shop near the election camp. Five people were killed and 10 were wounded in the explosion.

The TTP had claimed responsibility for the deadly attack and vowed at that time to target all secular parties such as the Pakistan Peoples Party, Awami National Party and the MQM.

KARACHI: A huge cache of Nato weapons and ammunition was recovered by police on Wednesday during a raid on an empty house in the Azizabad area of the metropolis.

Police reportedly seized a large number of weapons including anti-aircraft guns, SMGs, LMGs, sniper rifles, hand grenades and rocket launchers hidden in the water tank of the empty house.

Bulletproof jackets and helmets were also recovered during the raid by police, DawnNews reported.

The raid was conducted after the police was tipped off by a political worker already in police custody.

Karachi police chief Mushtaq Ahmed Mahar termed it the "biggest recovery of arms and ammunition in the history of Karachi".

“In light of disclosures made by a detained suspect, big-wigs of a political party provided help in procuring these arms and ammunition,” said the AIG Karachi, without naming the party and its leaders.

The city police chief claimed that these arms were supposed to be used by the elements residing in London particularly with cooperation of RAW (Indian intelligence agency) for terror activities in the metropolis but it was foiled through timely action by security institutions.

“These weapons were hidden for terror acts to be perpetrated by terrorists of a political party based in South Africa,” said the AIG Karachi.

All the recovered weapons were shifted to the office of Sindh Inspector General.

According to the press release issued by Sindh Police, recovered weapons included 11 anti-aircraft guns, 17 grenade launchers, 39 LMGs, 9 RPG-7, 82 SMGs, 11 7-MM, one M-16, 32 China rifles 7.62, 10 G-3, 5 sniper rifles, 2 repeaters, 9 short SMGs and 245 magazines of SMGs and G-3.

The police also claimed seizing 200 hand grenades, 2000 rifle grenades, 140 bullet-proof jackets and huge quantity of ammunition.

During his press conference, the Sindh AIG informed the media that forensic tests will be conducted to determine whether the weapons have been used in the past to conduct terrorist activities in the metropolis.

He also told that the police are still looking into how long the house has been vacant and who it belongs to.

Earlier in March, a large cache of ammunition was recovered by Rangersduring a raid at MQM headquarters, Nine Zero. According to Rangers spokesperson Colonel Tahir, the ammunition stolen from Nato containers was also seized during the search operation.

A number of party workers, including member of MQM's Rabita Committee Amir Khan, were detained during the raid. Huge cache of arms seized near Nine Zero in Azizabad ‘London elements with cooperation of RAW planning killings through network of political party based in South Africa’

Huge cache of arms seized near Nine Zero in Azizabad ‘London elements with cooperation of RAW planning killings through network of political party based in South Africa’

Very true. As i stated in another thread as well, they planned for mass riots and killings in Karachi. There are more dumping of such arms and weapons that soon will be revealed. These weapons are already forwarded for forensic tests and I am sure mostly are with foreign markings.

Recently AH was addressing Party Workers through Social Media and hinted towards South Africa Setup to be activated after Muharram and threatened Farooq Sattar and others to resign immediately, threatened for dire consequences as to be dealt by supporters in Karachi.

It is reported that huge cache of weapons like this, is still dumped at several points that LEAs are working on it and tracing the same based upon intel reports and revelations during interrogation of arrested terrorists. We all are aware that MQM is involved in most sectarian killings in Karachi and was planning this time as well during Muharram.
