Karachi Kings worst team of PSL | First ever team in history to loose all first 5 matches of the competitive cricket tournament

Karachi's problem starts from the top, when you install a meek, unnatural leader as captain, this is what you get.

The captain is not the problem. Babar is leading the national side and he is leading from the front with decent results there.

This disaster was an inevitable writing on the wall. You just have to look at the team sheet and you will notice how uninspiring the XI is, compared to previous seasons where you knew that Karachi will compete, if not directly challenge for the title.

Be it batting, bowling, or fielding wise, these names never gave me the confidence a supporter wants while looking at the playing XI.

We are way too over-reliant on Babar's consistency, and the day he goes early results in a complete meltdown, the rest of the batsmen being mediocre amateurs playing franchise cricket, too poor to even warrant a selection for their national side.

Sharjeel will play a blinder once every 5 innings, and will not go past the 10 runs mark in the next 10 games. His shameful fitness level makes him a liability in almost every aspect of the game, and him being able to hit sixes should not fool T10 fans who think he is the second coming of Sehwag.

Some players are there just because they are foreign players. The likes of Gregory, Cockbain and Gregory would barely make it to a third tier domestic team, and they are playing game after game in Pakistan's biggest sports event.
These names should not even come close to being related to the PSL, that's how mediocre they are. If Babar fails and Sharjeel doesn't get his rare cameo, you don't expect those 3 amateurs to chase even 130. Their level is that low.

Bowling wise, this team is probably the worst in the history of the PSL. Amir, for all his faults, was probably the one carrying this bowling attack and hiding it's limitations, and his absence has made this attack look pathetic and toothless.
Imad has been very good for Pakistan in T20Is, especially in the power-play overs, where has played his role of a run-dryer very well. This season, however, he has been nothing more than a useless tailender, not capable of anchoring or accelerating when needed, and a complete liability of a bowler.

You can't afford to have a go at the captain when he has been the only saving grace for an otherwise pathetic unit, filled of mediocre nobodies playing for the sake of playing.

You don't expect to win a T20 tournament with such players. The level of skills required is way too high and the capability of these players is way too low.

Big names don't win you tournaments, but if a team is filled with pathetic players at 8/11 spots, then humiliation and inevitable disaster is the only realistic outcome.

Major replacements are needed in the next draft if they want to have another competitive season.

Player of the Year is not meek or the problem

The Team selection choices are for not having a Solid Bowling department , players who are injured or were in rehab , took Karachi Kings down

Unimaginative Imad Wasim , has been a utter failure

6 out 6 losses of Karachi Kings, OMG. PSL historic record or even World Record of consecutive defeats for Karachi Kings !!

Karachi Kings fans are crying literally today!!

Babr Azam has the worse Capain in PSL record for time being from looks of it win % wise
As Capain played 6 games lost all 6 games

Unfortunate as he is a Talented Player with good winning record in International T20 Level

PSL 2022: Where are Karachi Kings going wrong?

LAHORE: The former champion of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Karachi Kings have suffered six consecutive defeats in six games in PSL 7. The Babar Azam-led side has yet to taste a win in the tournament and are now on the verge of being eliminated from the race to play-offs.

A lot is being said about the reasons behind the Kings’ poor show in PSL 7 which started in Karachi on January 27 and now the second phase is being played in Lahore.

When did the problems start?

Problems for Kings started even before the tournament commenced when Mohammad Aamir was unable to regain full fitness and, subsequently, ruled out of the tournament.

They suffered another blow when Mohammad Illyas got injured.

But the other bowlers inducted in the setup did reasonably well, which raises questions on the batting line of Karachi Kings.

With the likes of Babar, Sharjeel Khan, and Joe Clarke in the lineup, one wouldn’t expect such fragility in batting.

The major problem

A major problem with Kings is Sharjeel’s struggle with form and Babar’s reluctance to change the brand of cricket he’s playing which is not doing any favours to the Kings. As a result, the team remains desperate to get a good start.

The problem at top order has deprived the Kings of the start they would want in their matches; the maximum Kings have scored in power play is 48/0.

In three out of six matches, the Kings’ power-play score was in the 30s which, undoubtedly, puts pressure on following batters to accelerate the scoreboard.

One example of the Kings’ poor strategy in power-play was the game against Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday afternoon in Lahore where they scored 31 runs in the first six overs, chasing a target of 194.

They played 18 dot-balls in the power-play overs where they should’ve displayed some fireworks.

Can Babar Azam be blamed?

It would obviously be unfair to put all the blame on Babar who has 253 runs at an average of 50.60 in 6 innings which looks like a reasonable stat, but when we go into further details, we find that his strike rate is around 120.

He has faced 210 deliveries in the tournament so far and has hit only one six — which may be the problem.

Being a captain, Babar should take some responsibility — not blame — on his shoulders and change the brand of cricket he’s playing because the others around him aren’t able to perform the way they should’ve been.

The current approach may have been helpful for him in T20Is where he has the likes of Muhammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman around him, but in Kings — he is not getting such support.

In PSL, the time for him to become his own support system has come.

It is still not too late for Karachi Kings. Though many if and buts are on their way, they’re still in contention to keep hopes of Karachiites’ alive. Kings need to change their approach.
