Kaneria responds to allegations of religious discrimination

OP is clearly trying to equate us to them, as if we are equally intolerant.

The funny thing is that most pakistanis, especially the ones on PDF, are condemning this and calling for equality.

While Indian PDFers mostly are making excuses for the intolerance and killings in India.

It's funny how this backfired on OP.
We pakistanis are a different nation from Indians as we harbor no I'll will towards any minorities.

And we will fight for their equality, shoulder to shoulder.

Kaneria says endorses Akhtar’s claims, thanks him for support

KARACHI: Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar has said cricketer Danish Kaneria was treated differently in the team because he was a Hindu during their playing days.

Akhtar added that he used to be enraged by his teammates’ behaviour when they refused to break bread with Kaneria because of his religion and did not give him due credit for his performances.

“I used to get very angry when anyone was discriminated on the basis of region or religion. A Hindu born in Pakistan is entitled to represent his country. When that Hindu (Kaneria) won us the Test series against England (in 2005), I was upset with my teammates for mistreating him,” said the celebrated former pacer.

“In my career, the number of times I have had to argue with people regarding the issues of Karachi, Punjab, Peshawar is outrageous. People used to ask questions like, ‘Why are you eating (with us) here?’ to Hindu players like Danish Kaneria,” Akhtar said at a show titled “Game on Hai”.
I used to reply to those players, ‘How would you feel if I took your food from your house and forced to make you eat outside?'” he said.

Kaneria is fourth in the list of bowlers who have taken most Test wickets for Pakistan, behind only fast bowlers Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Imran Khan.

He was handed a lifetime ban by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after allegations of him being involved in match fixing surfaced.

Danish Kaneria on Tuesday lauded Pakistan pacer, Shoaib Akhtar, for his comment regarding the treatment faced by Kaneria and said that whatever Akhtar said was true and he is very thankful to him for taking such a brave stand.

“I am very thankful to Shoaib Akhtar bhai for his remarks. Whatever he said was true. I have never said anything to him although he came for my support,” Kaneria told ANI.

The 39-year-old Kaneria, who played 61 Tests for Pakistan, is the second Hindu to feature in the Pakistani cricket team after Anil Dalpat.

The spinner, who had 261 Test wickets and 15 ODI scalps, said that he did not have the courage to speak about that but after Akhtar’s statement he will soon name players who have issues with him during his cricketing days.

The players who didn’t like to talk to me just because I was a Hindu. Soon I will reveal their names. I did not have the courage to speak in this regard, but now I got the courage to speak on this issue when I heard Shoaib’s statement,” Kaneria said.

Kaneria said there were players like Younis Khan, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf, and Akhtar who were nice to him irrespective of his religion.

Danish Kaneria’s case should serve as a reminder to all those who question India’s treatment of its minorities. It must be mentioned that India has had innumerable players from the minority communities, unlike Pakistan. Of course, to even compare India with Pakistan is a shameful proposition, but let me indulge for the larger good. Right from Syed Kirmani to Mohammad Shami, from Azharuddin (who also became captain) to Yusuf and Irfan Pathan, from Zaheer Khan to Mohd Kaif, India has never discriminated against players on the basis of their religion. Harbhajan Singh, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Yuvraj Singh, Bishan Singh Bedi, etc, have been the Sikh cricketers of the Indian team. Never has anyone treated these players as untouchables, unlike in Pakistan, where the pompous players refuse to even break bread with a ‘kaafir’.

.
I am feeling ashamed.he was and is hero of Pakistan.thier is no excuse of this behavior.
But why shoaib akhtar speak about it now?
He should have speak when he saw it happened.
Not speaking about a bad behaviour is also encourage it.
Or he was for when he can use this for his benefit.
Eating hilal food should not be a problem with any person of any religion.i my self worked with hindus Christian and Jews.we eat together.even one of senior staff was Indian hindu.we have good friendship.i visited his resident many times.i know he didn't drink alcohol. So feel no problem drinking from thier glasses.his wife make us salty lassi which i likes very much still remember.
But @op we are still far behind india in this regard.we dont lynch over meat.
We dont have segregated colonies based on faith.
And we are not applying caa like laws.

This is the reason we need Citizenship Amendment Act in India. We should have done it long ago.

If a famous Hindu cricketer is facing religious persecution, then I can't imagine what common Hindus must be going through in the land of pure.

.
**** those who mistreated him. He was a great player and has our respect. I hope more talented people from minorities become part of cricket team.

.
such ill treatment is also common in india in case of Muslim players and Muhammad shami was not allowed to play in worldcup semi finals as he was Muslim and in india mostly Muslim players are not given opportunity for long careers like hindu players and play only for short span of time.
I think shoaib akhtar has made such remarks for getting more view and subscribers for his youtube channel from indian viewers, there are many other Muslims players in Pakistan who were not given chance and played much less matches than danish

I not see any truth in such claims as why shoaib akhtar remained quiet for such a long time and not revealed this when he was in cricket creates doubts about truth of his remarks

Oh come on, this is a one off instance. Racial slurs and abuses you will find in US, Europe and Australia too. The main difference with Gangudesh is this all is not done under the government supervision, no politics behind, no nothing. No 2000 hindus killed in riots anywhere in pakistan and no CM ever made it to the top for inciting hate. No yogi molana ever made a CM ever. You are too innocent a Gangu out there!

https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-...backing-australia-teams-khawaja-idUKKBN1CE0IU

Test batsman Usman Khawaja has said being racially vilified when he was growing up in Sydney led him to support other countries rather than back Australian sports teams.

Not denying the fact that if he was ill treated this has to be condemned and it was a bad gesture, as humans beings should not be divided into caste and creed, higher caste and untouchables, achoot and maleech(BTW which country name comes first when you talk about achoot/untouchable and higher superior caste, none other than India).

-And Danish was selected by the PCB and the selection committee showed there is no official/state discrimination in Pakistan for Hindus, a few players personal liking/disliking cannot be construed and generalized as he was treated badly as he happens to be a Hindu.

- In India the hatred/suppression for Muslims is state sponsored, rules are formed in the parliament and approved by the majority Hindus to make Muslims stateless, second class, take the property and perks from them and call them ghuss petia and termites and expel them, no such things happens in Pakistan for Hindus, most of the Hindus in Pakistan(most are in Sindh) are rich traders and land owners, mill owners and are very rich.

-Nobody Lynch Hindus in Pakistan as some sort of a gory sport, not a single case of Hindu Lynching(check how many Muslims are lynched on the rumors of Beef eating) in India.

-No one here unlike India, garlands and welcome the Muslims lynchers as heros and worshiped and selected as law maker in the parliament.

-Not a single incident of mob lynching as Gujarat, Muzaffarnagar, Ayodhya dozens more. Cite any media report of 10 Hindus killed in Pakistan by a mob. In Gujarat India alone according to independent sources more than 2000 Muslims were killed by Hindu mobs and those killed includes pregnant women and young children(there wombs were ripped open) as per ind. media.

-And the biggest often repeated lie and falsehood of all that Hindu population in Pakistan has declined from 20-25% to less than 1%...this fake news is repeated by Indians more often than not.

According to 1951 census Hindu pop. in Pakistan( west and east Pakistan) was about 13% in total. West Pakistan has a Hindu population of 1.2% in 1951 and East Pakistan now B'Desh has a Hindu population of about 11-12% or close.

Naturally after the separation of east Pakistan which had the majority of Hindu population the population percentage of Hindus in west Pakistan, now Pakistan declined to 1.2 % of total population. And ironically Hindu population in now Pakistan has risen to 2.7% from 1.2%, so it is increasing actually and not decreasing, this busts the fake Indian media propaganda about Hindus in Pakistan.
