Many years ago, I was working in a certain renowned company in a certain muslim country in Gulf region. The company had 99% muslim employees from Pakistan, India, Iran, Bangladesh and Turkey. The department that i was working in had majority Pakistanis, few turks and iranis and the only hindu guy.
Now the tableeghi culture of Pakistanis made it irresistible for them from approaching that hindu guy and telling him about deen and stuff. They would encircle him and start asking questions of many Gods vs one God, idol worshiping, fasting with permission to eat selected food end what not. Work had stopped. The Hindu guy changing colours in his face, was bombarded with so many questions at once, took his hands away from his laptop.
After watching this ordeal for a few mins, i stood up from my seat, walked towards them and broke the circle, pulled up a chair and sat with that hindu guy. I looked at all my fellow country men and told them u can ask him, but i will give you the replies. They of course asked me why i was "siding"him, to which i said im not siding anyone however i am willing to answer their questions and will also ask them about Islam after that. I cant quite remember what they asked me, but i gave them a few replies and then started to ask them about Islam. In a few minutes, the circle slowly saturated and broke off.
Next day onwards, the circle thinned out around him and eventually all the Muslim Pakistanis concentrated more on prayer timings and jamaat rather than pouncing on that hindu guy. That hindu guy and I became good friends, i discussed India and its places to visit with him, about his family etc. The Tableeghi jamat also learnt to accept him as a hindu and life went on.
Humanity first. We are humans first and must treat all humans with respect regardless of religion.
