how ever we must have special ground attack based on k8 chassis as a5 had same weapon payload 1000-1500kg and is k8 capable of carrying it!!

IT IS A 10 MIllIOn $ plane worth a fighter price!!

y everybody is after K8 these days?it is an advanced trainer n it should be used in the role it was designed for.there is no emergency situation that we should waste money in converting a trainer into a ground attack plane.it will never be effective as compare to mirage ,f-16 or jf-17 or even the f 7pg.
if the plane has some capability to carry limited payload that's another thing and may be used in case of extreme emergency but converting a trainer into a below average capability strike plane doesn't make sense specially when u have better jets available for that role

well its a thread where we discuss the possibilities , if we require more weapons what will paf do at needy time !!! so chill out a good topic to me!!

su25 a ground attack fighter aircraft by sukhoi with 4400kg its new version su28 is trainer version it would be goood by taking this example that k8 can be good fga fighter !! in other words if airforce doesn't want but army can use these as recc and light support aircraft!!

Oh come on guyz...we need to go forward not backwardz....need to move towardz new/fifth generation not the old/3rd generation...aircrafts.......:what:

Almost all basic trainer jet aircraft develop a single seat ground attack/cas version.
The sale to south america shows a greater demand for the ground attack role.

So why hasn't a single seat version been developed?

for ground attack fighter a single seat version would be difficult!!

Why would you need this if you have f-16's and J-17's? These would be sitting ducks in an open combat. They can only be used if all threats like enemy aircrafts and ground based SAMS are neutralized. That leaves very limited scope.

Is the K8 bought directly from China or was it developed by Pakistan and China like the JFT?

It is a joint development but PAF only has 25% share as compared to 50% in JFT programme. PAC does produce some of its parts but they are assembled in china.

I guess at some point COIN and CAS coincide. Below they note COST as one reason not to use fast jet for tasks that can be done by trainers and other slower/cheaper fighters. This is not the first article I have seen discuss the desire by US commanders for cheaper CAS/COIN platforms.
