JL-9 can fly twice as fast. Flies 10,000 feet higher. Probably better radar. And costs more.

K-8: Mach 0.75 top speed

JL-9: Pulse-doppler radar
K-8: not sure

JL-9: more expensive

Nice, but these DSI-featuring aircraft are JL-9G for the Navy like this one ...

By the way there are few "dramatic" errors alone in the first post: it is neither a WS-10 - much too large for this tiny bird - nor a WS-13 - as used on the JF-17 ... and also not a WS-14, since the Kunlun is more or less dead.

As far as I know the current JL-9s use a WP-13F(C) with a maximum trust of 4,400kg without and 6,450kg with afterburner.

Isn't it kunlun III derivative that's a dead project? kunlun II turbojet finished development.

As far as I know development might have been finished but in the end either it was not reliable enough or the extra cost of a different supply chain was not worth the efforts. Said to be planned most of all for the improved J-8-version from the J-8C and later J-8F on at least the J-8F and derived JZ-8F are again using the WP-13BII turbojet again.
