Jinnah’s journey from an Indian nationalist to a Muslim separatist

LOL BIGGEST LIE EVER!

Pakistan was never supposed to be a secular country.

There were many in the Muslim league advocating for an Islamic state.

Raja Sahib Mahmoodabad, a leader of the Muslim League and close associate of Jinnah, also cited the incident in his memoirs. Mahmoodabad added his personal experience with Jinnah on the matter of establishing Pakistan as an Islamic state.

“During 1941-5, we advocated that Pakistan should be an Islamic state. I must confess I was very enthusiastic about it and in my speeches I constantly propagated my ideas.

Only the traitors in Pakistan to advocate a secular state to weaken the Muslim forces in the country.

Why half-quoting bhai ???

“During 1941-5, we advocated that Pakistan should be an Islamic state. I must confess I was very enthusiastic about it and in my speeches I constantly propagated my ideas. My advocacy of an Islamic state brought me into conflict with Jinnah. He thoroughly disapproved of my ideas and dissuaded me from expressing them publicly from the League platform lest the people might be led to believe that Jinnah shares my view

What you are quoting actually disproves your claim, read again, carefully

@Iqbal Ali Only a fool would call someone a traitor without evidence, prove to me that i'm a gadaar because I think that any Pakistani should be allowed to be PM and not only Muslims.
Go read up on your definitions.

Dominion of Pakistan then Republic of Pakistan. Go learn history.

Thank you.

Go read up Jinnah's speech a few days prior to independence. If there were a few idiots wanting an Islamic Republic I don't know however 1 thing I put my life on is that Jinnah didn't!

Don't distort facts for your personal opinion.

YOU ARE FREE! YOU ARE FREE TO GO TO YOUR TEMPLES, YOU ARE FREE TO GO TO YOUR MOSQUES!
Then why does Jinnah talk about ISLAMIC DEMOCRACY AND ISLAMIC SOCIALISM?!!

I said many Muslim Leaguers wanted an Islamic state like the Raja of Mahmoodabad. I was not talking about Jinnah.

If Jinnah did not want an Islamic state, then Jinnah is a traitor.

He talks about giving rights to Muslims of India that were treated as trash, he never talked about an Islamic State, Zia taked about an Islamic State.
You forget 60's secular Pakistan.
Sorry I am not convinced. Eventually we will agree to disagree.

Dear senior members and Mods,

I am deeply saddened to read such comments about a person that fought for our rights, I my self have questioned Jinnah in the past however I have never questioned his service to us and to the country. I have never called Jinnah a traitor.

I request the senior, educated and moderators to take action against such a comment. I refuse to reply to such a person that question's a person who spent the last leg of his life fighting for our justice and freedom.

Stop taking things out of context.

That is a very disappointing thing to see posted from Iqbal Ali. If you despise the man that fought for this country with his heart and soul then YOU are the traitor. Unfortunately there are many others in the country.

You called him a traitor, just because a person does not agree with your thought process does not automatically make him/her a traitor. Have a think about who you are calling a traitor.
I too can call in the mods too @waz take care of the Neoliberals.

Thanks.

I said if Jinnah wanted a secular state, then jinnah is commiting treason.

Even in the movie Jinnah, Jinnah says taking inspiration from the Golden principles the Prophet Muhammad (saw) talked about.

This discussion is not about what Raja of Mahmoodabad (or some other Muslim Leaguers) wanted, it's about Muhammad Ali Jinnah's vision ... (The Raja anyway realized his mistakes later on and accepted Jinnah's vision)

Jinnah did not want an Islamic State, and it does not make him a 'traitor' (if you know what the word actually means)

lol @ you guys.

You guys are NeoLiberals.

Whatever this is just an internet forum. People genuinely know what the Pakistani people want.

I still stand by the fact that the Muslim leaguers wanted an Islamic state.

The folks who were with Jinnah are sidelined, this country has been hijacked. A morphed vision of Jinnah is now portrayed to the masses, the "ideology" of Pakistan is a misinformed caricature invented by the likes of Maudidi, and the defenders of it are the folks who called him Kafir and Pakistan Na Pakistan. In such an environment, the comment you are highlighting is the norm, not the exception. As I too came across many people in Pakistan who had similar feelings.

My reasoning and appeal to higher moral standards stopped me from administrating a beating, maybe in another life time. Or maybe, just maybe there is a true son of Jinnah lurking somewhere who will sweep away these archaic folks and throw them back in to the 12th century from whence they came. Till then, just wave the flag and don't question the religious savants.
