JF-17B Updates, News & Discussion

Seems like the PAF missed a trick with the B model. As far as I can see, there's no indication the B model will be used for specialised mission purposes, rather simply for training purposes. The B model should have been based on the Block III specs, incorporating an AESA and the dedicated LDP/EWP hard point, to fully maximise the potential of the airframe for special missions, including Wild Weasel and EW missions. As it stands, the current B model specs severely limit its use in any such missions, and instead it seems it's limited to conversion training.
tbh...I think it's an issue of time ... it'll just take a while before they can mission-ize the JF-17B. But I reckon if the PAF wants it, they'll get there, albeit something closer to 2030.

Funny though , made me laugh :cheesy:

same logics were given by indians when they upgraded Mig21 by saying they upgraded it with latest avionics and missiles. and started comparing it with JF17.

also j10 comes in medium weight fighter with better engine and airframe. it will be benificial for pakistan.

just my thoughts. i am layman in terms of jet aircrafts , never flew one :D

You are right but honestly, this is what I and other members here were saying for a long. PAF should get J-10s even earlier and in the batches like:
  • 40+ J-10A/B
  • 40+ J-10C/D
  • 40+ J-10E/F
This would help the PAF to replace Mirage III/V easily from the front line force. And these J-10s, along with F-16s, and JF-17s could make up a good fleet until the J-35s arrives.

For Mirages, it's good to upgrade them and use them as strike force instead of using them as a regular fighter aircraft fleet.

Sorry, but this makes no sense at all, why 40 J-10A/B when the C is available?

Even more there is neither a J-10D/E/F and I'm sure you think the B is the trainer of the A...

JF17B in a steep climb

View attachment 715007

don't think the ac is in a climb, it's the angle of the pic that makes it look that way.

anyways haven't seen a jeff doing a verticle sustained climb at 90 degrees. or for that matter see it do a "zoom climb".
That's where the twr of an ac comes to the fore.

Jf-17 B training plus extra role same as dual seater mirage per ac tufail

Was this in the news ??

Why would the PAF replace 300 light-weight fighters with 300 medium-weight fighters?

Sounds daft.

Looks fake. No such tweet on AM (Rtd) Shahid Latif's Twitter account.

And, why would you use "Defence Point" from Facebook as your source?

Not exactly 300. That will be 120 J-10s in total and it's not just to replace Mirages.

The Fleet PAF might be looking at is:
200+ JF-17s
100+ F-16s (will be replaced by Azam)
100+ Chinese / Russian Origin Aircraft.

I said PAF should have decided earlier about J-10s and they should have acquired in the past the J-10A/B versions and now J-10C/D acquisition is perfect.

Checked am Latif Twitter and no such news so most probably fake

I donot remember seeing any news but it’s is still possible as we have seen new version of raad test in past ans claimed it was new platform that was launch Paltform

J10A at least had many issues including different system failures and engine reliability, which look to be resolved in latest versions. PAF could not and shall not be in position to induct an unreliable fighter jet. If PAF is even now inducting J10C as hinted even then it may have been done after thorough analysis.
