Why there is no auxiliary air intake at the start of the base of Rudder in Bravo which was seen in JF17 block 3 prototype?

The auxiliary intake at the base of the spine in the Block 3 is most likely for cooling of the IR-based MAWS and other ECM avionics in the tail unit of the Block 3 (the same auxiliary intake is on the J-10C which uses the same IR-based MAWS). The B version is based on the Block 2 aircraft, which use the UV-based MAWS.

I was talking to a former PAF pilot about the induction of JF17Bs and speculated that they were for strike or wild weasel roles as PAF from day one maintained that its pilots didnt need trainers and they could transition from the simulators to real jet directly if they already had flying experience from other jets.
there was a change of mind as other customers didnt share such confidence or thinking. acquiring / manufacturing 14 jets solely for training didnt make sense and it was clear they were meant for specialist roles although former PAF leadership put its foot down saying there was no such plans for JF17 (few years back) but it seems that once those roadblocking seniors were retired and safely away from influencing the JF17 program then the JF17B plan took its shape and is quickly evolving that looks like a U turn from the original plans.

here is a video where a former pilot is interviewed and interview revolves around same discussion we have had on this forum. its a coincidence that some parts are what I had in mind.

in essence, B is Block III. dual seat has come before single seat. they did things in reverse or back to front.

Now that is a beautiful picture! Even got the pretty side of the JF17B with no horrible ugly looking hinges to look. ( Shame there is no 2k or or 4k version of that picture...)

There are very few air arms in the world right this minute, who are inducting as many new Jets into their as the PAF is right now. A handful at best.

93 has DEEC, 93MA has Bark-93 FADEC system.

PAF pilots regularly do engine flameout practices on jf-17. Keep in mind that the 93 is optimized towards single engine application whereas 33 is not.

I am not current about RD-93s.

However, according to the manufacturers, added provision of high altitude in air start up is being provide on RD-93MA. Which means JFS or similar accessory (VK-100-1MK) is being added as engine upgradation.

By inferring manufacture statement, I deducted that manufacture either did not provide in air start up for older RD-93 or in air startup was inadequate. This provision might have been added by the Chinese or Pakistanis end during engine integration phase.

RD-93 was derived from RD-33 and the initial examples were supplied in early 2000s. At that time RD-33MK was already under manufacturing phase for Mig-29s. RD-33MKs have FADEC system installed.

Apparently, Pakistani engineers did tweak the older RD-93 engine to minimize smoke and decrease the overall fuel consumption.

Coming back to the topic. Where do these...creatures come from?!! Other than the fact that we might be the most cursed Country having these mutants for neighbors. But seriously, he doesn't know d!ck about anything that flies - including a kite and here he's talking as if he's an expert. If this clown is an expert, than my knowledge on Fighter Jets exceeds that of @Bilal Khan (Quwa) - [no pun intended].

Anyways, if you haven't seen it - be ready to be astonished by one of the most brilliant minds on YouTube. The Planet he's on, hasn't even been discovered (yet).

Hope the Indian Members on PDF take some points from him to make future arguments. It'll give us another reason to troll 'em.

- This by the way is the biggest problem we face.

1. Indian Media is too strong.
2. Our Media is so involved with Domestic issues, that they don't really know what's going on in the outside World.

Mans gotta make a buck ... be it by making videos that his followers want to see, so why not. The more the Indians downplay the JF-17, the better for us.
At the same token, we should not be following in their footsteps when it comes to the LCA. It is going to be a legitimate threat for PAF, more so than any of their russian jets imo

And PAF has mechanics working for them not engineers just FYI.
